Blish wrote science fiction criticism under the pen name 'William
Atheling, Jr.' While he was well known within the SF field, he's best
known outside the field for novelizations of the original 'Star Trek'
episodes.
His parents were Asa Rhodes Blish, an advertising manager (1893-1948), and Dorothea Schneewind, a pianist (1894-1982).
His children were Dorothea Elisabeth Blish (born 1954; later Genly) and Charles Benjamin Blish (born 1956).
