The most uneven of David Cronenberg’s early commercial horror features, the 1977 “Rabid,” was nonetheless probably the biggest success among them, in large part due to the novelty value of seeing “Behind the Green Door” porn superstar and erstwhile Ivory Snow detergent-box model Marilyn Chambers in a lurid mainstream vehicle. It’s also the one ripest for remake, if only because his just-prior “Shivers” aka “They Came from Within” and ensuing “The Brood” should be left alone — largely reviled upon release, they’re now rightly considered genre classics. Lacking their outrageous ideas and cumulative narrative momentum despite some striking elements, “Rabid” nonetheless has a strong-enough basic concept to warrant revisiting.
In theory, “twisted twins” Jen and Sylvia Soska are fair candidates for that job: Like Cronenberg, they’re Canadian, attracted to body-horror, and have cut their own path from micro-budget projects toward the mainstream. They also claim they dislike remakes as a rule,...

"Why am I dreaming about drinking blood?"
The first trailer has been released for the upcoming horror film Rabid, which is a remake of David Cronenberg’s 1977 film of the same name. The movie stars Laura Vandervoort (Smallville) in the role of Rose, a woman with a bright future who ends up being horrifically disfigured in a tragic accident.
She ends up going through a "radical untested stem cell treatment" that seems good at first, but it ends up making her hungry for flesh. The synopsis reads:
What happens when you realize that to achieve your dreams you have to live a nightmare? Rose is a quiet, demure, unassuming woman in her looks and actions. Her dream is to become a famous designer in the fashion world, but a terrible accident leaves Rose scarred beyond recognition. She seeks out a radical untested stem cell treatment. "Why am I dreaming about drinking blood?" 101 Studios has debuted the first official trailer for an indie horror remake titled Rabid, a new take on the 1977 film of the same name from David Cronenberg. This one is directed by the Canadian filmmaking pair known as the Soska Sisters, two twin sisters named Jen & Sylvia, who have been making horror films for years now. It was just announced that this remake will have its world premiere at the acclaimed FrightFest horror film festival in the UK coming up in a few months. Laura Vandervoort stars as Rose, a woman with a bright future who is disfigured in a terrible accident. She agrees to try a "radical untested stem cell treatment" but it soon makes her hungry for flesh. The cast includes Greg Bryk, Stephen McHattie, Ted Atherton, and Stephen Huszar. This seems like a mix between the original Rabid and Raw,...

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Raven Banner Entertainment's publicity arm. Director: Leo Scherman. Writers: Matt Booi and Leo Scherman. Cast: Karine Vanasse, Rossif Sutherland, Rob Archer, Charlie Carrick, Shaun Benson, Ted Atherton, Adam Hurtig and Robert Stadlober. Leo Scherman's Trench 11 is a World War I set horror film. There have been other horror films set in this time period, including Michael J. Bassett's Deathwatch (2001). This time, six Allied soldiers are tasked with exploring an underground, German medical complex. Shot in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Trench 11 offers some great practical make-up effects, from Francois Dagenais. However, the plot and the characters are a bit lightly drawn. Meanwhile, nothing about Trench 11 sounds like World War I. The costumes look great. Still, it is always strange to see a Canadian character with an American accent. At the end of the film, this horror film fan found Trench 11 a bit.

I've got a fun trailer for an awesome looking new horror film called Trench 11. The movie is set during World War I and it revolves around the discovery of a zombie outbreak in the final days of the war. I really enjoyed this first trailer for the film and I can't wait to watch this movie! Here's the synopsis:
In the final days of Wwi a shell-shocked tunneller leads an Allied team into a hidden German base… 100 hundred feet below the trenches. The Germans have lost control of a highly contagious biological weapon that turns its victims into deranged killers. The Allies find themselves trapped underground with hordes of the infected, a rapidly spreading disease and a team of German Stormtroopers dispatched to clean up the mess. The only thing more terrifying than the Western Front… is what lies beneath it.

"This base has been sealed for a reason." Rlje Films has released an official trailer for the zombie horror film Trench 11, which premiered at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival last year and has been playing at various genre film festivals since then. The zombie horror is set in the final days of Wwi, following a shell-shocked soldier who must lead a mission deep beneath the trenches to stop a German plot that could turn the tide of the war. This is brutal and bloody and violent and exactly what you might expect for a film about Wwi bloodthirsty, worm-infected zombie soldiers. Trench 11 stars Rossif Sutherland, Karine Vanasse, Charlie Carrick, Shaun Benson, and Ted Atherton. This trailer takes a bit of time to build, but finally gets into the gnarly, freaky horror stuff, though they don't show much of the ensuing gore. Tread carefully. Here's the new official Us...

Trench 11 could end up being a really fun flick! Here's the synopsis:

"The only thing more terrifying than the Western Front... is what lies beneath it." A trailer has debuted online for a Wwi zombie horror thriller film titled Trench 11. This indie horror has been playing at various genre film festivals the last few months, including Fantasy Filmfest in Germany and Toronto After Dark, but still doesn't have any Us distribution set yet. Trench 11 is about a special biological weapon the Germans developed that turns its victims into deranged killers. The plot follows a group of Allied soldiers stuck deep under ground trying to figure out and stop the spread of this dangerous, deadly disease/weapon. The film stars Rossif Sutherland, Karine Vanasse, Shaun Benson, Charlie Carrick, Ted Atherton, Adam Hurtig, Robert Stadlober, and Luke Humphrey. This looks dark, and gnarly, and very violent. Dig in. Tagline: "Violence is Contagious." Trench 11 has been a passion project, for director Leo Scherman, since 2011. Since then, the film has begun shooting in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The film centrally stars: Rossif Sutherland (Hyena Road, 2015), Karine Vanasse (The Forbidden Room, 2015), Charlie Carrick, Shaun Benson and Ted Atherton. In the film, a Ww 1 Allied tunneler must reach a German base, a 100 feet below frontline trenches. A contagious biological weapon is being used, by the Germans, to counter the Allied operation. And now, an official movie poster is available, for Trench 11. The official synopsis also talks of the "infected." A rapidly spreading disease is effecting German soldiers and a squad of Stormtroopers are sent to stop the spread of infection. So, Trench 11 may be a much-loved zombie film. More story details will arrive soon. As well, Raven Banner Entertainment is the sales agent for Trench 11. Raven Banner will also release the film in Canada,...
