Netflix + Miracle Media have each debuted official trailers for holiday-themed movies coming out this fall – and they both look terrible. Which one is worse...? Which one seems like it has less originality to offer? One is a Hallmark Channel movie rip off, the other will rip off your face while you're watching some Hallmark Channel movies. Netflix is releasing a romantic comedy called Best. Christmas. Ever! this fall, the latest from filmmaker Mary Lambert (who also made 2021's A Castle for Christmas on Netflix). Starring Heather Graham, Brandy Norwood, Jason Biggs and Matt Cedeño. Miracle Media is releasing this goofy UK horror comedy called Werewolf Santa, which originally premiered at FrightFest 2023 in London a few months ago. Starring Katherine Rodden,...

You’d think Christmas horror films up until now had covered it all. Where can you go after all the killer Santas, snowmen and elves? Well, not too long ago, Krampus was the new thing for genre filmmakers to make a holiday film about and there’s been a few decent movies on that subject – none better than the 2015 film. Last year we got a couple of great new Christmas-themed horror movies with Violent Night seeing David Harbour as Santa saving Christmas and a family and the even more original but brilliantly violent Christmas Bloody Christmas, which featured a killer robotic Santa on the loose. 2023 doesn’t seem to be the year where Christmas horror runs out of ideas because now we are getting Werewolf Santa.

Mark Arnold who starred alongside Michael J Fox in the classic 1985 werewolf comedy Teen Wolf, is returning to our screens in a brand-new werewolf comedy. Werewolf Santa asks, what happens when Santa Claus turns into a werewolf on Christmas Eve? Incidentally, Teen Wolf happens to be the director’s favourite eighties film! It’s being made as Christmas horror films are becoming their own established genre, and this is the film the creators have always wanted to be able to switch on after necking a couple of very large Bailey’s on Christmas Eve…Also teamed up on the project are British horror royalty Emily Booth (Tarantino’s Grindhouse) and legendary drive-in film critic, and Shudder personality, Joe Bob Briggs who has a special voice cameo on the film.

This one looks like a polished indie production, playing out closer to the original Universal Monsters classic than Leigh Whannell’s updated reimagining. Some of the digital effects work is a bit rough, but otherwise this one looks to be well worth our time.

The Orchard has released a new official trailer for the very cheesy sci-fi horror film It Came From the Desert, adapted from a video game in the 1980s about giant ants. "We're trapped by this giant ant!" File this one under "Wait, this film really exists?!" Roger! Pictures out of Finland has launched the first trailer for a movie called It Came From the Desert, adapted from a video game in the 1980s about giant ants. The game is obviously inspired by the sci-fi classic Them! (also about giant ants) and thus this is clearly an updated version of the giant ant sci-fi story. Sadly, it looks more like a SyFy movie than anything I'm excited to see, but maybe I should've expected that. This film stars Mark Arnold, Harry Lister Smith, Vanessa Grasse, Alex Mills, James Alper, Claudia Trujillo, Callum McGowan, and Aino Sirje. The coolest part in this is the first reveal of someone being impaled through the chest, but the ants themselves look terrible. Hopefully they're much better in the final version. Have fun. Here's the official trailer...

With the world of children’s entertainment being what it is today, revisiting some of the amazing classics can be a real treat, and for a variety of reasons. Just when you might have put some of these things out of your mind, there’s a new wave of titles being brought back, and Underdog: The Complete Collection is one that stands out in the crowd.
Not only a cultural treasure and classic of the “Saturday morning” era, it’s a fun-filled adventure that delivers to children today as well as it ever did.
The (fairly) zany adventures of Shoeshine Boy delighted audiences, and the non-superhero superhero approach became its own cultural force as the show continued to run in syndication for nearly a decade. More than just an animated adventure as we might think of one today, it was truly The Underdog Show, running almost as a kind of cartoon variety show,...

Michael J Fox, lycanthropy and basketball clash in the amusing 80s teen comedy, Teen Wolf. Jeff takes a look back…
Delightfully mediocre is a term that applies to the original Teen Wolf, the less ambitious of two Michael J Fox films released in 1985. Ostensibly an upbeat, John Hughes-esque take on fare like I Was A Teenage Werewolf (perhaps in name only), Teen Wolf only wishes to please, having neither bark nor bite. Still, this eager puppy of a teen flick does a more than a few tricks well, and remains spritely and cuddly after all this time.
Fox plays Scott Howard, an only child living with his father (James Hampton in a quiet, understated performance). Scott has two best friends, the exuberant and at times overbearing Rupert ‘Stiles’ Stilinksi (Jerry Levine), and literal girl-next-door ‘Boof,’ played to wholesome perfection by Susan Ursitti.
His biggest problem is the lack of a maternal figure,...
