Vault director Tom DeNucci’s new film Johnny & Clyde is usually referred to as a “crime thriller”, but we’ve also heard that the story shifts gears to become a “balls-to-the-wall slasher/horror” flick. Since I have been a dedicated slasher fan since the 1980s, I’m looking forward to checking it out when it receives a theatrical and VOD release this Friday, May 5th. With the release just a few days away, a trailer for Johnny & Clyde has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Scripted by DeNucci and Nick Principe, Johnny & Clyde follows the two eponymous serial killers who are madly in love and on an endless crime spree. They have their sights set on robbing a prosperous casino run by crime boss Alana and her head of security.

Welcome to The Best Movie You Never Saw, a column dedicated to examining films that have flown under the radar or gained traction throughout the years, earning them a place as a cult classic or underrated gem that was either before it’s time and/or has aged like a fine wine.

It’s no coincidence that Johnny & Clyde sounds a lot like Bonnie and Clyde. Helping to usher in a new level of violence in mainstream film Arthur Penn’s film is one of the most influential and imitated films of its time. One can draw a line from Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker to Mickey and Mallory Knox, Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers. And from there to the latest film from director Tom DeNucci and co-writer Nick Principe who is probably better known for lending his imposing presence to films like Laid to Rest and FP2: Beats of Rage.

Like many low budget action films, there is a constant, uneasy tension between ambition and what is possible. Hustle Down is aiming to be a Michael Mann thriller, but the constraints constantly degrade the experience. Whether it is low budget cameras, direction, or uneven acting.
An almost unrecognisable Tom Sizemore (with dyed black hair and looking elderly) is running around (and gosh is it a sad sight) in a cheap shirt, avoiding cartel hitmen.
I barely recognise the wispy voice of Tom Sizemore here, nor his ghoulish countenance and I certainly don’t recognise his ripe acting. He was one of my favourite actors for a long time, and it is so sad to...

We’ve all had trouble sleeping, haven’t we? Thoughts that consume our minds and invade our dreams that we can’t shift…well, unfortunately for Robert Adetuyi’s latest feature film, you won’t have trouble sleeping whilst watching. The ‘Stomp the Yard’ and ‘Honey: Rise up and Dance’ director fails to deliver here; resulting in a distinctively average thriller come dark comedy that certainly won’t plague your mind and keep you up at night.
Curiously somber piano music emerges, setting the tone immediately – especially when we see Billy Zane’s Charles enter the scene. Despite his soothing tones, and romantic demeanor something is awry. The lighting shifts, there is blood down one side of his face and an intimate moment between a seemingly happily married couple quickly turns into something sinister. The clichéd, it-was-all-a-nightmare tangent invades the deliberately disorientating scene wherein we are given the backstory in a somewhat patronising manner.

"My wife is not your patient, Doctor, Justin is." An official trailer has debuted for this indie psychological thriller titled Trouble Sleeping, made by the Canadian filmmaker Robert Adetuyi. This has taken years to finally get a release after first unveiling in 2018, but perhaps there's a reason it has taken so long. Just take a look at the trailer below. Tormented by the memories of her late-husband's suicide, a woman's life is further complicated by the arrival of her stepson, who apparently will soon inherit all of his father's wealth. But something else is amiss. The film stars Vanessa Angel, Billy Zane, Rick Otto, Ingrid Eskeland, Kale Clauson, and Fred Stoller. This film looks especially forgettable and bland, it's so obvious what's going on from this trailer you can probably figure out exactly how it's going to end. Skip this one - it's not worth it. Here's the official trailer...

Despite the snow that just pounded my town today in furious squalls, summer is just around the corner.

30 years ago today, two geeks from Shermer, Illinois created Lisa, the perfect woman, with a little computer know-how. That's right, "Weird Science" came out exactly three decades ago and was the third film John Hughes stepped behind the camera for as director, following "The Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles." The flick was also the fourth time Hughes had worked with star Anthony Michael Hall, who appeared in both of the aforementioned films, as well as the Hughes-penned "Vacation." Fun fact: Hall reportedly chose this flick over doing a "Vacation" sequel -- thus starting a franchise tradition of switching the actors playing the Griswold children each film. Joining Hall were Ilan Mitchell-Smith and Kelly LeBrock, a former model who turned her sights towards acting. "Weird Science" went on to become a cult classic and spawned a USA series of the same name, with Vanessa Angel taking over the role of Lisa.

As well, the film stars: Vanessa Angel (“Weird Science”), Hutch Dano (Zombeavers), Reggie Lee (NBC’s “Grimm”), Lew Temple (AMC’s “The Walking Dead”) and Bailey Spry (It Follows). A preview of the film's terror is hosted here. From the logline, an evil abode is waiting for a new family to arrive. When they turn up, this haunted house will not let them leave, ever! Director Jon Kondelik has something to say about the haunted house sub-genre. Kondelik says: "we aim to put a new spin on a familiar genre." Behind the Walls will offer surprises. Kondelik goes on to say...

The first "Dumb and Dumber" came out way back in 1994, so it's no surprise last night's premiere for the sequel, "Dumb and Dumber To," was packed full of stars that made us feel a little nostalgic.Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels paid homage to their on-screen alter-egos by dressing in suits similar to the tuxedos they famously sported in the '90s flick. The two also showed up to the red carpet in one very familiar vehicle: The Mutt Cutts van!But the flashbacks didn't stop there. While original film star (and Carrey ex-wife) Lauren Holly was sadly Mia, another pair of '90s women caught our eyes.Vanessa Angel -- who starred in one of the Farrelly Brothers' other films, "Kingpin," as well as the TV version of "Weird Science" -- looked sexy as ever in black leather and lace. Now 47, Angel most recently appeared on an episode of...

Last year we ran a schedule of every TV/Cable network schedule we could find that could be construed as Horror or Halloween related for the month of October. Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).
So here’s the 2013 Halloween Seasonal TV Preview,...

With Kick Ass 2 opening this week, we take a look at some other young superheroes. Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004) Director: Bob Clark Stars: Jon Voight, Scott Baio, Vanessa Angel A team of creepy talking toddlers must save the world from Jon Voight. Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 is currently ranked #1 on IMDb's Bottom 100 list and, while I've probably sat through more painful films, it's hard to deny it the infamous distinction. Eytan Fox's superb sequel to his award-winning love story, Yossi & Jagger (2002), has finally arrived. The original told of two Israeli soldiers situated on the Lebanese border, whose clandestine love affair was struggling to survive in a friendly yet homophobic atmosphere. Jagger, who was a little more out there, did his darnedest to loosen up Yossi (Ohad Knoller), begging him to quit the army and live with him in a more tolerant ambiance such as the one Tel Aviv could furnish. The rosy vision unsettled Yossi, but not for long. Jagger was killed in an ambush - - and buried as a brave heterosexual, at least in the eyes of his parents and his compatriots.
Now jump a decade ahead. Dr. Yossi Hoffman is a highly respected cardiologist, yet a lonely, slightly out-of-shape homosexual. A workaholic, he refuses to take vacations, and his free evenings are neatly eviscerated by TV shows with laugh tracks.

A ravenous ghoul terrorizes a cast member of “Modern Family”. A Twilight wolfman and his real-life sister go hunting for supernatural evil. Younger horror fans get to start the new year off with Ghoul and Hansel & Gretel: Warriors of Witchcraft on DVD.
Who would have ever thought Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters would inspire so many b-movie knock-offs? Sure, we’re only talking two, but that’s still two more than I would have expected.
While The Asylum’s Hansel & Gretel name-only mockbuster takes a more modern horror approach, Lionsgate has one that looks to be more of a tweener-friendly version of the R-rated big screen version. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, allow me to introduce you to Hansel & Gretel: Warriors of Witchcraft.
Jonah And Ella Mazer (Hansel and Gretel) were happy, normal teenagers–sent to an elite boarding school. The Headmaster, Sebastian, seems to know more about the brother and sister than they know about themselves.

Cougar Hunting, yet another sexy comedy about a bunch of guys in their 20s and their adventures with women of an older but sexually provocative persuasion, is coming to DVD from Screen Media on Aug. 2 for a list price of $24.98.
The three young men—played by Matt Prokop, Jareb Dauplaise and Randy Wayne—head out to Aspen to jump on the cougar cruising train, encountering such lovely ladies who apparently fit the description as Vanessa Angel (Spies Like Us) and Lara Flynn Boyle (TV’s The Practice), as well as the notably younger Jillian Murray (Wild Things: Foursome).
When we reviewed the movie Cougars, Inc. last month, we opined that “Cougars” were fast becoming a stale topic, having been a hot subject for quickie comedies and DVD Premieres a couple of years back. (For examples, check out Cougar Club, Cougars 101 and Cougar School.) We were going to amend our theory...

Peter and Bobby Farrelly's follow-up to the cult classic Dumb and Dumber (1994), Kingpin (1996), is my favorite of their filmography, which climaxed with There's Something About Mary (1998) before following a crash and burn trajectory. After being disappointed with Me, Myself, & Irene (2000) and only catching glimpses of Shallow Hal (2001), I signed off on the duo. Their first three films were able to balance a heartfelt approach to characterization while simultaneously using those very characters as cogs in a gross-out comedy machine. Jeff Daniels' Harry, Jim Carrey's Lloyd, and Ben Stiller's Ted are all loveable losers that evoke a larger spectrum of emotions from us precisely because they are unaware that they are loveable losers. As Roger Ebert describes Dr. Strangelove, "People trying to be funny are never as funny as people trying to be serious and failing. The laughs have to seem forced on unwilling characters by the logic of events.

The boys hope in Aspen they'll be able to start with clean slates, new reputations, and the proverbially golden paved streets of...

The best way to sell a Farrelly Brothers film is with a red-band trailer, and so WB/New Line has dropped this red-band clip for the upcoming Hall Pass, in which Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis are married guys who can't stop thinking about the sex they're evidently not getting at home. Given a week's break from the confines of marriage, the two get into some ridiculous hijinks. This feels more like a Farrelly Brothers project than the first trailer [1] did -- that one had more of a Judd Apatow vibe. Even so, this one isn't as dirty as I expected. Have we really arrived at a point where a guy jerking off in his car as cops approach feels, well, routine? But, hey, Richard Jenkins looks like he'll be worth a few laughs, and Stephen Merchant and J.B. Smoove are on hand, which can't be bad. Here's the red-band trailer,...

To celebrate Lionsgate’s UK release of The Expendables on DVD and Blu-ray on December 13th, we here at Blogomatic3000 thought we’d take a look at our favourite team-ups in movie history…
13) Bubba Ho-Tep

Based on the award-winning short story by Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-Tep is a movie that needs to be seen to be believed, and is possibly Bruce Campbell’s greatest performance.

Here’s the first poster and trailer for Owen Wilson’s new movie, Hall Pass which looks pretty silly but will no doubt bring in the punters! Hall Pass is all about two married men who get a ‘pass’ to do whatever they want away from their wives that they like. The problem for them is that they’re both bumbling idiots who are flippin lucky to have Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer married to them in the first place!

Holy crap another trailer today for another new comedy?! Yep, I guess so. New Line Cinema has unveiled their trailer via Apple for the newest comedy from the Farrelly Brothers called Hall Pass starring Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis. As usual, they've lined up an impressive cast to join in the fun, including: Alyssa Milano, Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate, Alexandra Daddario, Vanessa Angel, and even Richard Jenkins. It's a very long trailer for another relationships-are-screwed-up comedy where two guys get a week off from marriage without any consequences, dubbed a "hall pass." It doesn't look that bad. Watch the official trailer for the Farrelly Brothers' Hall Pass: You can also watch the new Hall Pass trailer in High Definition on Apple A married man (Wilson) is granted the opportunity to have an affair by his wife. The calm before the weekend release storm always means new trailer debuts. Today we have had a new big momma that went back to the illusionist, no strings attached. Now they are given a Hall Pass in the latest comedy by the once-great Farrelly Brothers (There’s Something About Mary, The Heartbreak Kid). I witnessed this trailer before a Due Date screening earlier this year and aside from a few clever jokes, it is rough. Not only do they have to explain what a hall pass in an insert, they have to write it on the actual hall pass. Sigh.
