- Was a decorative showgirl at Las Vegas' Flamingo Hotel and at Earl Carroll's popular theatre-restaurant on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. She was discovered by Paramount talent agents there and signed briefly for films. She sold real estate in later years and killed herself after the breakup of her marriage to actor Rudy Diaz.
- She was married to Rudy Diaz in 1949 when he was an L.A. narcotics / homicide detective. They had a son, Ronald R. Diaz.
- In her pre-Hollywood years, Dorothy was a model and a Flamingo Hotel showgirl (known as The Girl with the Golden Arm). Later she moved to Hollywood and was groomed as showgirl types in such films as The Razor's Edge (1946), Road to Rio (1947), Words and Music (1948), Copper Canyon (1950), Give a Girl a Break (1953) and There's No Business Like Show Business (1954).
