Spider-Man is making a comeback in the cinematic neighborhood soon. This time around, though, he is coming in animation, but the excitement about it is no less. Fans were convinced that Marvel’s 2024 would be a barren desert as the highly anticipated movie Deadpool 3 was the only project scheduled to be released, but luckily that does seem to be the case.
Tom Holland as Spider-Man
Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man must be ringing a bell in the minds of those fans, who were eagerly waiting for the web-slinger to have his animated show. With Disney releasing the logo for the show, fans might wonder about the possibility of any original MCU character appearing in the show, especially since Tom Holland is reportedly not a part of the project.
The one Marvel character that could have made an appearance in the show is Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.

Farewell James Corden, hello Taylor Tomlinson. CBS unveiled its new late-night show, After Midnight, last night in the time slot following The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Instead of a talk show like The Late Late Show, After Midnight is a reboot of Comedy Central’s popular game show @midnight, which ran for 600 episodes.
For its debut, Tomlinson enlisted fellow comedians Whitney Cummings, Aparna Nancherla, and Kurt Braunohler, who battled it out in a series of improvised games. Tomlinson joked that the grand prize was “my father’s approval.” “It is rare but winnable,...

After Midnight finally made its debut January 16 in the timeslot formerly held by James Corden.
Hosted by comedian Taylor Tomlinson, the show is a reboot of the old Comedy Central game show @midnight, which ran for 600 episodes on the sibling Paramount-owned network. For those who didn’t see the original version, imagine a combination of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? and Tosh 2.0: it’s an internet-themed panel game show that challenges comedians to come up with the best yuks during a series of improv games.
For the premiere, Whitney Cummings battled it out against Aparna Nancherla (former writer on Late Night with Seth Meyers) and Kurt Braunohler (former host of IFC’s Bunk) in front of a studio audience for the grand prize of “my father’s approval,” quipped Tomlinson. “It is rare but winnable.”

CBS gave its new late night series “After Midnight” a bit of a soft launch on Tuesday night, premiering the show with minimal fanfare in its 12:37 a.m. timeslot behind “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Comedian Taylor Tomlinson hosts the series, which tapes on the Paramount lot in Hollywood.
The decision to keep the “After Midnight” premiere lowkey is by design: Allow the new show to find its voice over the next few weeks, prior to the Super Bowl and return of first-run scripted series in February, when more eyeballs will be back at the broadcast networks.
“I’m Taylor Tomlinson and this is ‘After Midnight, where three comedians enter, one wins and two will regret participating,” she said in opening the first episode. “We’re taking the internet and desperately trying to make it fun. It’s gonna be fun, right? Comedians, you’ll be competing for...

There was no miracle for TBS' last remaining live-action comedy series. To no surprise, the cable channel has cancelled the Miracle Workers series, so it won't be back for a fifth season. The fourth season aired over five weeks during the summer.

Guest stars include Quinta Brunson, Garcelle Beauvais, Kyle Mooney, Ego Nwodim, Lolly Adefope, Paul F. Tompkins, and Lisa Loeb. Simon Rich created the show. Miracle Workers has come to an end. TBS has canceled the anthology comedy series, its last remaining live-action comedy, after four seasons. The Season 4 finale, which is now the series finale, aired August 28.
The cancellation is not entirely unexpected. Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reported in January that Season 4 could be the last. At the time, she heard that TBS no longer had options on the cast, led by Daniel Radcliffe, so new deals would need to be made for a possible fifth season — a daunting proposition, which networks rarely resort to. But she heard that the series’ creative team had an idea for a potential fifth season that Radcliffe was excited about, so, if Season 4 did well ratings-wise, it was possible that the show could have continued with Radcliffe, who would have needed to make a new pact.

TBS original comedy “Miracle Workers” has been canceled after four seasons, Variety has confirmed. The cancellation comes just months after the series finale aired in August.
Set in a post-apocalyptic future, Season 4 (aptly titled “End Times”) of the anthology comedy picked up with wasteland warrior (Daniel Radcliffe) and a ruthless warlord (Geraldine Viswanathan) as they face the most dystopian nightmare of all: settling down in the suburbs. “Together they navigate the existential horrors of married life and small-town living, all under the dubious guidance of a wealthy junk trader (Steve Buscemi),” reads the description. Previous seasons covered the Oregon Trail and the Dark Ages.
In addition to Radcliffe and Viswanathan, the series also starred Karan Soni (“Deadpool”) and Jon Bass (“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”), and Karan Soni. Debbie Grayson (Sandra Oh) is tormented by a cabinet door that won’t shut. It suffered a shoddy repair job following the calamity that upended Debbie’s life one month ago, when her husband, Nolan (J.K. Simmons), the extraterrestrial superhero known as Omni-Man, revealed his mission to colonize Earth for his homeland of Viltrum. Nolan leveled the city of Chicago, killing thousands of people and nearly murdering their son, Mark (Steven Yeun), before flying off into the atmosphere. Debbie’s frequent trips to the kitchen for glasses of wine culminate in clashes with the door, which remains slightly ajar—a stubborn symbol of the anger and grief that she hasn’t figured out how to compartmentalize.

When Star Trek: Lower Decks premiered in the summer of 2020 — so long ago that its streaming home at the time was called CBS All Access, rather than Paramount+ — it seemed caught between two potentially incompatible goals. On the one hand, the animated series, run by Mike McMahan, wanted to satirize all of the most ridiculous ideas the Star Trek franchise had introduced since the mid-20th century. And on the other, it wanted to tell genuine, thrilling Star Trek stories, set a decade or so after the events of the various Nineties spinoffs.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman is firing up the old rumor mill this Monday by saying Disney is looking for Elvis filmmaker Baz Luhrmann to helm its live-action adaptation of Tangled. While there has yet to be an official word from Disney about Luhrmann boarding the project, rumblings about a live-action adaptation of Tangled have circulated for weeks. In addition to Luhrmann potentially eyeing the director’s chair, Richtman says Florence Pugh is up to play the lead with sentient locks.
It’s worth noting that even though Richtman’s prediction track record is impressive, industry vet Jeff Sneider says Richtman’s been ill-informed about details related to Disney‘s live-action version of Tangled. While I could see Luhrmann directing, I find it hard to believe Pugh would star as Rapunzel. What do you think?
In Disney’s 2010 animated masterpiece, the magically long-haired Rapunzel spends her entire life in a tower.

Mark Grayson is back! Well, he will be on November 3, 2023, when the animated superhero program "Invincible" returns to Prime Video for its second season. Fans of the show have waited a long time for the show's return, with two and half years separating the first season finale and this upcoming premiere. Adapted from the series for Image Comics created by Robert Kirkman (who also created the TV adaptation), the series stars Steven Yeun as the titular invincible man dealing with the age-old problems of being a teenage superhero: coming of age as a person in the world and living in the shadow of your legendary superhero father, in this case, the super strong, fast, and yes, invincible Omni-Man (voiced by J.K. Simmons).

Following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, several original TBS shows were cancelled and/or licensed to other company's outlets. If James Corden hadn’t stepped down, CBS would have “happily” continued “The Late Late Show,” executive producer Rob Crabbe believes. In the wake of reports that CBS plans to replace the late night staple with a reboot of “@midnight,” Crabbe shared his thoughts on the upcoming revival.
“It’s hard to start these things, so it probably made more financial sense for them to shift over to ‘@midnight,'” Crabbe told TheWrap. “So I think they made a good decision in what they need for this time slot. James is heading back to England, so there’s not really a continuation of this show.”
Crabbe emphasized that he, fellow EP Ben Winston and Corden are not associated with the rumored “@midnight” reboot and that he only knows about it due to reports from the press. To his knowledge, there have not been conversations about “The Late Late Show” staffers...

"Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" is one of the funniest movies of 2022, and I will die on this hill. The fake totally accurate biopic stars Daniel Radcliffe of "Harry Potter" fame as the accordion-playing songster who brought us such classics as "Like a Surgeon," "Amish Paradise," and "Eat It," which are parodies of "Like a Virgin," "Gangster's Paradise," and "Beat It," in case you somehow didn't know.
The film tells the not-so very real tale of Al's life, from his father's disapproval of his wild accordion-playing days to his rock star bingeing to his toxic romantic relationship with Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood in the best casting choice of the year). Of course, none all of this is true, and it makes for a fun story.
One of the best scenes in the film is a pool party where a young Al meets pretty much every niche superstar who was famous in the 1970s and 1980s,...

After working with “Weird” Al Yankovic on a Funny or Die spoof trailer 10 years ago, “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” director and co-writer Eric Appel had more than enough time to think about what a feature version of the satirical take on Yankovic’s life might look like on screen. But when it finally came time to make that dream a reality, Appel didn’t even have a full month to shoot. The film’s whirlwind production lasted just 18 days and required discipline, planning, and a little luck to pull off.
“It was a bit of a miracle,” Appel, a Directors Guild Award nominee for “Weird,” tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview as part of our Meet the Experts: Directors panel. Starring Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al, and featuring numerous celebrity cameos – including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Conan O’Brien, and more – “Weird” is a comedy satire of musical biopics that...

If you’re of a certain age, you might remember a time when “prop” comedy wasn’t frowned upon. Long before the days of Carrot Top, a comedian named Gallagher made a fortune out of smashing watermelons with a mallet and sadly, the one-time headliner has passed away at seventy-six. If you’re a comedy fan, you’ll know that Gallagher’s reputation in recent years wasn’t sterling, with him having stormed out of an interview on Marc Maron‘s Wtf podcast when challenged on some of his material.
Leo Gallagher was all the rage in his younger days, having appeared on The Tonight Show several times, despite Johnny Carson’s rumoured aversion to prop humor. Later in his career, Gallagher ended up in a vicious legal battle with his brother, Ron Gallagher, who performed under the name “Gallagher Too.” The legit Gallagher initially allowed his brother to use his material,...

Comedian Leo Anthony Gallagher Jr., known mononymously as Gallagher, has died at age 76.
The star, who was known for smashing watermelons as part of his act, passed away while under hospice care in the Palm Springs area Friday morning, TMZ reported.
His longtime manager told the publication that Gallagher died of massive organ failure and hadn’t been well for a while.
TMZ stated Gallagher, who shot to fame on Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” back in 1975, had suffered multiple heart attacks over the years.
His rep told the site, “Gallagher stayed on the road touring America for decades. He was pretty sure he held a record for the most stand-up dates, by attrition alone.
“While Gallagher had his detractors, he was an undeniable talent and an American success story.”

"BoJack Horseman" is one of the best projects that Netflix has ever created. An odd mishmash of genres, it's a show that could only exist within the streaming era. The series refuses to abide by a formula -- constantly upending the viewer's expectations. Animated comedy shows for adults have evolved since the initial success of "Family Guy" and "South Park." While "BoJack Horseman" has its fair share of crass humor, it's a remarkably earnest examination of celebrity culture, depression, substance abuse, and non-traditional relationships in the 21st century. Who would have thought a show about a talking horse would become one of our generation's most insightful series?
"BoJack Horseman" takes place in a somewhat recognizable version of reality, where anthropomorphic animals exist alongside humans. Although the actor BoJack (Will Arnett) received syndicated sitcom fame in the 1990s -- thanks to his role in "Horsin' Around" -- he's become a recluse in the 2000s.

Watching an episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is kind of like meeting someone new for the first time: It's awkward as hell. Larry David, the show's creator (of "Seinfeld" fame) and main character, is a master of the neurotic. On the show, he plays an embellished version of himself who is constantly getting into petty tiffs with the show's rotating cast of characters, guest stars (including Ted Danson as perhaps one of the best frenemies TV has ever seen) who often play souped-up versions of themselves, as well. But what makes "Curb" and its actors so impressive is that the script for each episode is sparse — usually consisting of nothing more than a general plot outline without actual lines — leaving it up to the actors to decide exactly what their characters are going to say and do.
When you have a show that's almost entirely improvised, it's important to find...

It also recalls the helpless and mind-numbingly boring outpost scientists that the Enterprise and other vessels throughout Star Trek lore have had to either rescue, protect, or otherwise frustratingly work with to accomplish a mutual goal.

Most fans know BoJack Horseman for its wacky animal cast, quippy puns, and moving exploration of mental illness. But as creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg once told Variety, BoJack Horseman is also a series centered on “showbiz satire.” A crucial element of the critically beloved hit is how its storylines critique the entertainment industry’s seedy underbelly.
BoJack Horseman season 2 used its Bill Cosby-like arc to remind audiences how often Hollywood sweeps sexual assault allegations under the rug. Sarah Lynn (Kristen Schaal) embodied the role of the ill-fated child star – tragically depicting how the pressures, unrealistic demands, and ambition of stardom can lead to substance abuse and death. BoJack (Will Arnett) illustrated how easily creative executives turn a blind eye toward a star’s untreated trauma if they’re a cash-horse for a network.
On the surface, Mr. Peanutbutter (Paul F. Tompkins) seems to be one of the only well-adjusted characters in L.

In its first two seasons, "Star Trek: Lower Decks" has already become one of the most mythology-rich entries in the "Star Trek" canon, as the crew of Starfleet geeks on the U.S.S. Cerritos often pull from the lore of all the beloved crews that came before then. But the animated Paramount+ series has also built up some impressive lore of its own by this point, fleshing out the world of "Star Trek" circa 2380 by introducing some hilariously on-brand new cultures and traditions.
Though "Star Trek: Lower Decks" is a situational comedy first and foremost, it's also given fans some great character development, turning pathological pot-stirrer Ensign Mariner (Tawny Newsome) into a still-rebellious hero and even letting rule-following pal Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid) loosen up a little. With the new season around the corner and the fourth already greenlit, the show will have plenty of chances to further expand its "Trek" mythology,...
