The multiplex is about to get Barbiefied, but the soon-to-be hit isn’t the first film to feature Mattel’s favorite plaything. A previous Barbie movie was made in 1987, an experimental musical biopic that barely saw the light of day. The dolls sing, and they argue, and the most famous one dies. Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story was an art school project by a mischievous but deadly earnest Bard College Mfa student named Todd Haynes. After Thanksgiving, my mind begins to wander. I start dreaming of all of the exciting things that the coming weeks will bring. Specifically, diving into all of my Christmas horror favorites. It’s time for Black Christmas(s)! It’s time for Silent Night Deadly Night! It’s time for Krampus! Food, gifts, family and merriment are great, but as I’ve explained before, all of that stuff hasn’t been hitting me in the same way recently. Horror movies have really stepped up to fill that gap and allow me to enjoy the holiday on my own terms.
Over the past few years, another film has joined my list and if I’m being honest, has become one of my most anticipated watches every December. The immortal classic, Jack Frost. I was first introduced to it on The Last Drive-In in 2019 and it became an immediate favorite. The ridiculousness...

If you’re at all in touch with your geek side, you already know about all the great horror movies that are Christmas-themed. Chances are you’ve stumbled across Silent Night, Deadly Night, Black Christmas, or Santa’s Slay. Everybody knows Batman Returns and Die Hard take place around December 25th. However, did you know that several disasters have occurred around the most wonderful time of the year?
Anchor Bay Entertainment and the SyFy Channel spent the past few years reminding us that even the holidays aren’t safe from catastrophic events which could bring about the end of the world. Disaster-oriented Christmas movies were becoming an annual tradition up until 2013. The two media giants banned together for three straight years to bring us a trilogy of B-movie entertainment that I think it’s high time they continue.

After swiftly scrapping planned summer drama series Weird Desk last month, ABC has picked up another original drama for next summer, Canadian import Motive, from former Dexter and The Mentalist exec producer Daniel Cerone. The 13-episode CTV series focuses not on who did the crime, but why the crime was committed in the first place. The killer and victim are identified at the beginning of each episode, with the crime then explored via stylized flashbacks which piece together the connection between the two characters and what drove the killer to commit murder. In Canada, the series will premiere in the coveted post-Super Bowl slot this Sunday. Motive stars Kristin Lehman (The Killing), Louis Ferreira (Rookie Blue), Lauren Holly (NCIS), Roger Cross (Arrow), Brendan Penny and Cameron Bright. The series was created by Cerone who executive produces with Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob Labelle, Lindsay Macadam and James Thorpe.

Chicago – A film marketing itself as being “based on a true story” doesn’t hold the same teeth it once did. With truly original stories a financial high risk for Hollywood and many films leaning toward being based on a best-selling novel, the genre that is based on a true story or “inspired by true events” has increasingly taken creative liberties.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
Beware, filmgoers. Just a nugget of truth doesn’t amount to a true gold rush. In the case of the new horror film “The Possession,” the only validity to this film’s claim of being based on a true story is that there was indeed a well-reported dybbuk box (also commonly spelled dibbuk). The story involved real people trying to offload it on eBay once it allegedly haunted them.
Today, most horror films claiming real-life truth aren’t really based on a true story or much of one.

We have more Supernatural casting news for season six.
It's already been confirmed that Misha Collins and Jim Beaver will appear again on the show, while Mitch Pileggi is also slated to recur.
Now, Zap2It reports that Fred Lehne will reprise his role as Azazel this fall. This demon was killed by Dean to conclude season two, so it's unclear how he'll make an appearance in the fall. The best guess: a flashback or a time-traveling sequence.
Over the years, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Rob Labelle, Lindsey McKeon and Pileggi have all portrayed Azazel.
No word yet on whether Pileggi will portray this character or Sam and Dean's grandfather when he returns next season. It seems clear now it will be the latter.

We thought we'd seen the last of him, but he's back!
At this weekend's Creation Entertainment Salute to "Supernatural" convention in Parsippany, N.J., Fredric Lehne himself affirms that he will return as the series' original baddie, the Yellow Eyed Demon - also known as Azazel. Zap2it is still awaiting studio confirmation, but for now, we'll take Lehne's word for it.
Lehne says he'll start work on Wednesday, July 14, while the cast and crew is working on the season premiere. Though he has had the most screen time as Azazel, the demon has also been portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Rob Labelle, Mitch Pileggi, and very briefly by Lindsey McKeon.
Warner Bros. has confirmed that Mitch Pileggi will also return to the show -- though whether he'll appear as Azazel or Samuel Campbell, Sam and Dean's grandfather, we don't know.

When Veronica's former patient Craig returns to Wharton Memorial, Veronica finds his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Tourette's syndrome have advanced and become worse than ever. When Craig's wife, Mimi, pushes for an invasive, unproven brain surgery to treat his condition rather than have him undergo therapy in the mental ward again, Jack and Veronica become skeptical of her wishes.
