In the 1995 movie "Waterworld," Kevin Costner was the draw in more ways than one. To much of the audience, he was still the glamorous movie star who had managed to pull off a blockbuster "Robin Hood" movie despite his inability to successfully nail an English accent. To others, he seemed like he might be a potential trainwreck on the verge of derailment. "Waterworld" had fallen victim to many behind-the-scenes tales of sinking sets, director fights, and Costner rewriting the script to make himself look better. Ultimately, for one reason or another, enough people were curious about the film that it turned a profit. However difficult he may have been behind the scenes, the star turned out to still have it.
Within the movie, however, the person everyone wants to see is Enola, a nine year-old girl whose back tattoo features an encoded map to the last bit of dry land on a post-climate change world.

Exclusive: NBC has handed a put pilot commitment to a multi-camera comedy starring stand-up comedian Jim Jefferies, from writer-producer Suzanne Martin, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills and Universal TV, where Hazy Mills is based.
Written by Jefferies and Martin, the untitled sitcom stars Jefferies as a fictionalized version of himself, offering his unique take on modern life and the complexity of relationships.
Jefferies and Martin executive produce with Hayes and Milliner for Hazy Mills, along with Tim Sarkes and Alex Murray for Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Universal TV is the studio.
“I grew up watching the greatest sitcoms ever — Cheers, Frasier, Seinfeld and Friends — so when I had the chance to work with NBC, I jumped at the opportunity,” Jefferies said. “I look forward to hopefully adding my new show to that list.”
Jefferies headlines his own late-night series The Jim Jefferies Show at Comedy Central, where he is under a deal.

A whopping 30 years after the 1989 John Travolta/Kirstie Alley comedy Look Who’s Talking hit theaters, Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems is taking baby steps on a reboot.
Deadline reports the project is underway, with Jeremy Garelick (The Wedding Ringer) set to write and direct. Though Garelick is early in the process, the outlet says he’s “looking at a version that will allow for a diverse cast.”
The original film was written by Clueless scribe Amy Heckerling and had a unique perspective on parenting, featuring voice-over by Bruce Willis giving baby Mikey’s hilarious point of view.

After a long wait, fans of Chasing Life can breath easy. ABC Family has renewed the freshman drama for a second season. “Through the laughter and the tears, our audience has connected with the characters and relationships in Chasing Life and we are thrilled to continue telling April’s courageous story,” Karey Burke, Executive Vice President of ABC Family’s Programming and Development, said. “Chasing Life has found a home here.” Chasing Life stars Italia Ricci as April, a 24-year-old journalist who seems to have everything going her way, but is then diagnosed with leukemia. As the title would suggest, the series focuses on April’s struggle to remain positive and optimistic about her future life, and although she initially keeps her diagnosis a secret from the people she loves, April eventually finds herself leaning on her mom Sara (Mary Page Keller), sister Brenna (Haley Ramm), grandmother Emma (Rebecca Schull) and uncle George…...

Exclusive: ABC Family‘s upcoming drama series Chasing Life has not been assigned a premiere date yet, but it just received a back order for seven episodes. The cast was given the good news today, just in time for Thanksgiving. The back order brings the first season of Chasing Life to 20 episodes, which is ABC Family’s standard for a full season. Chasing Life, from Kapital Entertainment, Lionsgate, Televisa and Bv Family Prods, hails from the same pilot batch as ABC Family dramas The Fosters and Twisted. The other two had initial orders for 10 episodes and received back 10 orders after strong early ratings performance last summer. For Chasing Life, whose original order was for 13 episodes, the back order comes ahead of its premiere, slated for next year, representing a strong vote of confidence by the network. An adaptation of the successful Televisa Spanish-language Mexican series Terminales, Chasing Life stars Italia Ricci as April,...

After lengthy deal-making process, ABC Family has given a series order to drama Chasing Life (formerly Terminales) for a launch in early 2014. Chasing Life, which I hear has received a 13-episode pickup, joins new ABC Family drama series The Fosters and Twisted, meaning all three ABC Family pilots from the most recent cycle went to series. (The network passed on its comedy pilots, Phys Ed and Continuing Fred.) Chasing Life is an adaptation of the successful Televisa Spanish-language Mexican television series. The pilot was produced by Lionsgate in association with Televisa. As part of the series pickup, ABC Family and its in-house production arm Bv Family Prods have come on board as co-producers. Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan (The Neighbors), who has shepherded the project for the past two years, is executive producing alongside writers Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowitz, who joined last year and whose script was greenlighted to pilot.

Grimm, Episode 2.14 “Natural Born Wesen”
Written by: Thomas Ian Griffith & Mary Page Keller
Directed by: Michael Watkins
Airs Friday 9.00pm Est on NBC
After a block of episodes devoted to the Nick/Juliette/Renard love triangle, this week’s show sees a welcome return to more general Wesen issues, specifically a series of bank robberies carried out by Blutbads who have decided to expand beyond their traditional profession of munching little girls and into more lucrative territory, giving Hank and Nick the familiar, but always intriguing crime-with-a-hint-of-Wesen to solve. The fly in the ointment plotwise (there’s always one of those with Grimm) is not that Blutbads might stray across certain moral boundaries – only daily yoga exercises and a strict vegan diet allow Munroe to suppress his darker impulses – but that the robbers don’t bother with masks to hide their identities, they just put on their wolf faces instead.

Let's see if The Vampire Diaries can get the crazy train back on track.
Tonight's schedule is a little off-kilter thanks to the Vice-Presidential debate, so be sure to double-check your local listings, especially if you don't live in the eastern time zone. Personally, I've made sure to hoard this week's comedies on the DVR just in case I need some major stress release.

We're going to meet Bryan's ex on The New Normal and he'll be played by.... (wait for it) Matt Bomer. Too bad it's not likely that that Bryan dated Cooper Anderson.

Paul Scheer will appear in an episode of Modern Family as a Costco manager who encounters Claire and Gloria. I guess that means Mitchell's happy with the diaper shed he got at Costco back in the first season.

That was quite surreal. I’ve been to just two events like that before, so the red carpet shenanigans, seeing so many “movie stars” and directors you’ve listened to on DVD commentaries, and being in a room with so many people you’ve tried to get financing from – is really a strange experience. The kind that makes you all wild eyed and sweaty palmed. But mostly I was really truly just very happy to be there and felt very safe that we weren’t going to win anything and that I was just lucky to be included, to be in the group, to get to see this crazy kinda show in my life. When we all sat down, I told some of my producer filmmaker comrades that I hadn’t prepared anything to say cause that just felt so hubristic, and gauche, so vain, and weird – every time I...

I hate ties when it comes to handing out awards, especially if you're going to hold an actual awards show. What's the point in declaring the best of something if you can't determine what the best is? That said, I guess it can be looked at as something of a surprise when the 21st annual Gotham Independent Awards hand Best Feature to The Tree of Life and Beginners considering I think most felt The Descendants had it in the bag. And yet, that's not the end of the surprises. Beginners also scored Best Ensemble over the likes of The Descendants and Margin Call, both of which have been praised for their ensemble performances.
