ABC recently unveiled its 2024-2025 primetime schedule, which sees the network airing just five scripted series, including new dramas “High Potential” and “Doctor Odyssey.” “Grey’s Anatomy” will shift one hour to the 10:00 p.m. slot on Thursdays while the network will mark the return of “The Wonderful World of Disney” to its schedule.
ABC
“Dancing with the Stars” will be moving to Tuesday nights so that the network can air consistent programming that won’t be interrupted by “Monday Night Football” broadcasts scheduled for select Mondays. Said Monday night programming options will be announced at a later date.
Following “Dancing with the Stars” will be “High Potential,” written by Oscar-nominated Drew Goddard and based on the popular French series. The crime procedural stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a single mom with an exceptional mind whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective.

Doctor Odyssey, ABC’s new cruise ship procedural premiering this fall, is “Ryan Murphy at his outrageous, over-the-top best,” reports Joshua Jackson.
From 9-1-1 creator Murphy, Doctor Odyssey stars Fringe alum Jackson as Max, the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship “where the staff works hard and plays harder,” says the ABC synopsis. “It’s all hands on deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore.”

Joshua Jackson, star of Ryan Murphy’s Doctor Odyssey, teased a bit about the anticipated new drama series set for premiere this fall on ABC.
In a red carpet interview with Deadline at Disney’s upfront earlier this week, Jackson said the show is in “deep pre-production” with shooting to begin in about four weeks. He added, “the sets are all built” and “look amazing, the cast is mostly together, the scripts are written and we’re just ready to go.”
In addition to Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo and Sean Teale also star.
As with all Ryan Murphy series, no details about the premise or character descriptions are being revealed. We do know that Jackson is playing a Doctor. “Ryan Murphy doesn’t write normal procedural television, so the world that this doctor lives in is going to be as over the top and outrageous as you would expect from Ryan Murphy,...

Grey’s Anatomy goes through a shakeup every few years that clears out some of its beloved cast.
After the news of Jake Borelli’s departure amid budget cuts, another player joined him on the way out before production gets underway on Grey’s Anatomy Season 21.
Deadline reports that Midori Francis, who has played Mika Yasuda for the last two seasons, will not return as a series regular.
The news is surprising given that Grey’s Anatomy ushered in a new era last season by introducing a new crop of interns.
Mika had cemented herself as a firm fixture at Grey Sloan Memorial and was expected to continue for years.
But with budget cuts, the show may not even be on the air for the years to come.
Why is Midori Francis leaving Grey’s Anatomy?
Deadline hinted that Francis’ departure is an amicable decision as the actor plots the next phase of her career after signing with WME.

ABC is switching up its schedule in a big way come fall 2024, and it’s bad news for some of our favorite series.
The Rookie, which has been bounced around the schedule in recent years, won’t return for Season 7 until 2025.
An exact timeline for the show’s return has not been determined, but it will have an 18-episode order, which is pretty good when considering the delayed start.
ABC plans to air those 18 episodes uninterrupted. Will Trent, which has been renewed for Season 3, is also getting the same treatment.
The biggest shocker on the fall schedule is the decision to bump Grey’s Anatomy to the 10/9c slot after spinoff Station 19 ends its run.
The news comes following a budget cut for the long-running medical drama, which will reduce the number of series regulars per episode.

There are many changes coming to Grey's Anatomy, and not all of them will be exciting for the general audience. While the show has managed to survive major cast changes and allow Ellen Pompeo to explore other career opportunities outside of the medical drama she has been a part of for 20 years, it will now face another challenge.
Fans who are used to tuning in to Grey's Anatomy the old-fashioned way, by turning on the TV every Thursday at 9 p.m., will have to change their habits and stay up for an extra hour. Here's why ABC made the decision.
ABC 2024/2025 Fall Schedule Changes
Even though Grey's Anatomy has already been renewed for season 21, fans of the show still have plenty to worry about. First and foremost, ABC is moving the show an hour later into the night to 10 p.m., now that the schedule for the upcoming 2024/2025 broadcast season has been officially announced.

Well, if you had tried to get us to guess the ABC 2024-25 fall season announcement, we couldn’t have predicted much of it.
There are new shows sprinkled throughout, but ABC is going almost full reality, which is a choice.
Let’s see what we’ve got to work with here.
Two new shows will interest TV Fanatics: High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson, which was delayed due to the strikes, and Doctor Odyssey, starring Joshua Jackson as a cruise ship doctor.
High Potential gets a 10/9c slot on Tuesdays after Dancing with the Stars.
Despite the relationship disaster of The Golden Bachelor, ABC is dedicating an hour and a half weekly to The Golden Bachelorette while snuggling award-winning comedy Abbott Elementary between that and a docuseries called Scamanda.
Thursdays find Doctor Odyssey after 9-1-1 and before Grey’s Anatomy.
And TV Fanatic favorites The Rookie and Will Trent? Saved for midseason.

ABC will once again have Abbott Elementary as a centerpiece of its Wednesday night in 2024-25 — but it will begin the season without any companion comedies.

Looking at the crop of new scripted series selected by the broadcast networks for 2024-25, one cannot help but reminisce about the 20th anniversary of what may have been broadcast television’s greatest season ever.
The 2004-05 season introduced several genre-defying series — all but one based on original ideas — whose impact on TV storytelling is still being felt: Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, House, The Office and Veronica Mars. Remarkably, one of them, Grey’s Anatomy is still around, having just been renewed by ABC for Season 21, along with another show that premiered that same season, animated comedy American Dad!.

Some of this TV season’s blood has already been spilled — looking at you, “NCIS: Hawai’i” — but as we head toward upfronts week, there are still a number of broadcast shows “on the bubble.”
But as the networks settle in on a diet of mostly stable franchises and fewer series pilots, there’s also less primetime schedule frenzy this year. The days before upfronts week which would normally mean a rapid fire few days of broadcast series renewals and cancellations announcements. But normal left the building a long time ago.
The broadcast network portion of upfronts has been so significantly pared down from years past that it hardly resembles what it used to be. These days, most of the broadcast networks announce renewals and cancellations well ahead of their actual presentations.
Take CBS, which has already announced its new fall and spring schedules as well as all of its renewals and cancellations.

Get in a fighting stance, "Cobra Kai" fans: Netflix's most unlikely hit series is about to go out with a three-hit Ko. The popular "Karate Kid" sequel series will bow out with its sixth and final season this summer as planned, but the streamer has just announced that the last chapter will actually be an extended three-part streaming event.
In keeping with Netflix's recent trend of experimenting with different release strategies, "Cobra Kai" will end with three five-episode drops that begin in July and won't end until next year. The first five episodes are due out over the summer, while the second installment is expected in November (with the third premiering on an as-yet-announced date in 2025).
Though another major Netflix show, "Stranger Things," previously had a bifurcated season due to special effects-heavy sequences that needed to cook a bit longer, shows like "Ozark" and "Bridgerton" have also tried the multi-pronged release model.

Television shows seem well-organized and choreographed. Yet, not everything about them always goes according to plan.
For example, an incidental character sometimes steals a scene and creates memorable television history.
Then, there are the characters who take things a step further by stealing scenes repeatedly until they become the stars themselves.
Particular characters, such as Dr. Gregory House on House, are often created to be standouts. Yet, occasionally, those main protagonists are entirely overshadowed.
In rare instances, characters who were supposed to be incidental became regulars and took over entire shows.
The Fonz on Happy Days (1974-1984)
Happy Days underwent several changes, including the recasting and eventual disappearance of Chuck Cunningham's character, but Arthur (The Fonz) Fonzarelli's addition most dramatically altered the show's trajectory.
Initially, Happy Days focused on the Cunningham family, especially teenager Richie (Ron Howard). The Fonz (Henry Winkler) was a side character. However, the motorcycle-riding, leather jacket-wearing greaser soon took over.

Sony Pictures is playing a little release date shuffle this Friday evening. Kraven the Hunter, the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, was originally slated to hit theaters on August 30th, but the film has now been pushed back to a December 13th release. Kraven the Hunter‘s fresh release date was already occupied by the new Karate Kid movie, which has now been bumped to May 30, 2025.
Kraven the Hunter has been delayed several times already, but hopefully, this will be the last move. Coming on the heels of the less-than-impressive debuts of Morbius and Madame Web, this Spider-Man spin-off has a lot to prove, but with an R-rated edge, it could just turn the tide. Director J.C. Chandor has previously described the movie as a tragedy. “Sony probably doesn’t want me to lead with this. but the story is a tragedy,” Chandor said last summer. “When the final credits roll on this film,...

Kraven steps into a date that was occupied by fellow Sony pic The Karate Kid, a crossover event movie starring Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan. Karate Kid now moves to May 30, 2025.
The move comes after the sixth and final season of Cobra Kai, the Netflix spinoff starring Machio as his original Karate Kid movie character Daniel Larusso, was delayed due to last year’s actors strike. Sony pushed the new Karate Kid to allow it to follow Cobra Kai‘s final season, with the summer date also seen as friendly for the all-ages audience its intended for. Urban legends didn’t just inspire a kickass ’90s movie starring the Noxzema girl.
They also gave way to an awesomely imperfect Wikipedia index of actual urban legends mixed in with weird stories and curiosities.
According to Jan Harold Brunvand, the professor and folklorist who popularized the concept of urban legends, they’re wild stories with a kernel of truth that get passed from person to person, usually carrying some sort of moral or warning. For instance, if you head out to Lover’s Lane late at night, you might end up with a dying Joshua Jackson’s feet grazing the top of your car. Iykyk. The classic “friend of a friend,” unverifiable method of transport creates so many different versions of the story that the original is lost in the sauce.

Celebrities have this affinity for the sheer trend. For years, sheer dresses and gowns have dominated the red carpet, and whether you like it or not, the trend is here to stay. I even feel like it has become an alternative to classic black dresses.
At the inauguration of the Dal Cuore alle Mani Dolce & Gabbana exhibition held at Palazzo Reale on Saturday, nearly every A-list attendee wore sheer outfits. Aside from Demi Moore, who dazzled in a crystal-embellished silver sheer gown, Lupita Nyong’o, Lily James, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley donned black sheer outfits.
Let’s look at the statement-making sheer looks at the Dolce & Gabbana exhibition, organized to commemorate the Italian luxury fashion house’s 40th anniversary.

Just days before its debut, Fallout looks to be assured a second season thanks to a $25 million tax credit from California.
Officially, Amazon has not said yet that the Prime Video series is coming back, but, with some hints from executive producers Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan recently, it is pretty clear the money is doing the talking here. Receiving one of the largest allocations ever from the program for a relocating series, the post-apocalyptic drama is among a dozen shows awarded $152 million in incentives.
Primetime prequel NCIS: Origins, the Noah Wyle starring The Pitt, plus the Ryan Murphy executive produced Dr. Odyssey starring Joshua Jackson, and Grotesquerie starring Emmy winner Niecy Nash also were awarded credits through the California Film Commission run $330 million annual program – as you can see below.
Set to premiere on April 11, Fallout, based on the best-selling video game franchise, is almost as big a get...

ABC is putting another building block in place for its 2024-25 season.
The broadcast network has renewed its drama series Will Trent for a third season. The crime procedural’s second season has capably anchored ABC’s Tuesday night lineup this spring, showing sizable ratings growth compared to its inaugural run last year.
Produced by Disney’s 20th Television, Will Trent centers on its title character (Ramón Rodríguez), a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent whose unconventional background — he was raised in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system — gives him unique insight into his cases. The show is based on a series of novels by Karin Slaughter; Sonja Sohn, Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson and Jake McLaughlin also star.
Liz Heldens, Daniel Thomsen, Slaughter and Oly Obst executive produce the series, with Rodríguez serving as a co-exec producer.
The series is averaging 4.47 million same-day viewers this season, a 46 percent jump over its 2023 run,...
