There is a new undisputed and undefeated heavyweight champion of the world.
Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk joined Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Joe Frazier, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Floyd Patterson as the only undisputed champions by winning a split decision over Tyson Fury. The fight took place at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The previously undefeated Fury was convinced he won the fight. But the scorecards favored Usyk.
“I believe I won that fight,” Fury said to Dazn.“I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority of them. … We all put on a good fight, best we could do. And, you know, his country is at war, so people are siding with someone with a country at war. But make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion, and I’ll be back.”
Fury and Usyk reportedly have a rematch clause in their contract.

Daniel Kramer, a rock photographer who captured some of the most iconic Bob Dylan images of the Sixties, including the covers of Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited, died April 29, Rolling Stone confirmed. He was 91.
Kramer first encountered Bob Dylan when he watched him perform “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll” on The Steve Allen Show in 1964. “The lyrics were startling to me,” he told Rolling Stone in 2016. “They were so poetic. I knew this wasn’t an ordinary event. I knew this guy was special.”

Sylvester Stallone is taking a trip down memory lane and pulling the curtain back on his film rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The two actors, both known for dominating the action movie genre in the ’80s, recently shed light on their film rivalry in the new Netflix docu-series “Arnold”.
“The ’80s was a very interesting time because the definitive ‘action guy’ had not really been formed yet,” Stallone recounts. “Up until that time, action was a car chase like ‘Bullitt‘ or ‘The French Connection‘, and a film all about intellect and innuendo and verbal this and verbal that.”

Stallone remembered the pivotal moment when the landscape of action movies transformed forever. Reflecting on the release of “First Blood” in 1982, Stallone proclaimed: “You actually relied upon your body to tell the story.

Sylvester Stallone Says Arnold Schwarzenegger “Was Superior”: “He Had The Body, He Had The Strength”
Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are best known for their action movies from the 80s. As part of the Netflix docuseries Arnold, Stallone is recalling his former bitter rivalry with Schwarzenegger and giving him props.
“The ’80s was a very interesting time because the definitive ‘action guy’ had not really been formed yet,” Stallone says. “Up until that time, action was a car chase like Bullitt or The French Connection, and a film all about intellect and innuendo and verbal this and verbal that.”
Stallone determines that it was with First Blood, released in 1982, that action movies changed saying, “You actually relied upon your body to tell the story. Dialogue was not necessary. I saw that there was an opportunity, ’cause no one else was doing this… except some other guy from Austria, who doesn’t need to say much.”

Khris Davis stars as George Foreman in Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story Of The Once And Future Heavyweight Champion Of The World. To compete with heavyweight champions like Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali, boxers who were just as well known for their presence outside the ring as their fighting skills, George Foreman cultivated his own larger-than-life personality. It’s served him well for decades, from his boxing title pursuits of the 1970s to his entrepreneurial efforts of the ’90s and beyond. But that also posed a challenge for any actor who wanted to portray Foreman in the new biopic about his life, Big George Foreman. But Foreman, who serves as an executive producer on the film, says that Khris Davis’s performance is a knockout. (Click on the media bar below to hear George Foreman) https://www.hollywoodoutbreak.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/George_Foreman_Kris_Davis_.mp3 Big George Foreman is now playing in theaters.

Across a career that spanned four decades and saw him earn two heavyweight titles and a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, George Foreman cemented his legacy as one of the greatest boxers of all time. But despite having one of the most remarkable stories in sporting history to work with, Big George Foreman manages to stumble sluggishly from one chapter in his life to the next in a way that’s neither insightful nor entertaining.
George Tillman Jr.’s film plays out largely as a by-the-numbers biopic, charting Foreman’s rise from a troubled Texas youth to a title-winning boxer, then a born-again preacher, then a title-winning boxer again. Khris Davis, previously seen testing out his pugilistic skills on poor Donald Glover in Atlanta, plays Big George from the end of his teenage years to his remarkable comeback as the world’s oldest-ever heavyweight champion at the age of 45.

The full title of the George Foreman biopic provides a not-so-subtle clue as to the film’s prosaicness. The movie about Jake Lamotta vividly signaled the personality of its lead character with Raging Bull. The one about Rocky Graziano jauntily indicated its upbeat nature with Somebody Up There Likes Me. So what does Foreman merit? Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World. It sounds like the title of a biography for young readers, and that’s pretty much how the by-the-numbers film plays.
It’s not surprising that Affirm Films is one of the film’s producers, since Foreman famously underwent a religious epiphany and became a born-again Christian. He retired from boxing for many years and became a minister, preaching first on street corners before becoming working at a Houston church. Biopics about star athletes or artists tend to have the same broad shape: the rise to achievement and fame, the fall from triumph (often fueled by some combination of addiction and ego), the restoration to a harder-won glory. A great biopic, like “Get on Up” or “I, Tonya,” will tease a profound portrait of the subject out of that form; a middling one will oversimplify the subject just to hit the right beats. But then there’s a film like “Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World.” That’s not a movie title — it’s the title of a parable. And it’s well chosen, since “Big George Foreman” is about a life that feels so outlandishly ready-made for the ups and downs, the lessons and inspirations, of the superstar biopic genre that you don’t even have to mess with it.

So often thought of primarily as the big lug who was so dramatically dispatched by Muhammad Ali in the famous “Rumble in the Jungle” in Zaire in 1974, George Foreman is the main event in Big George Foreman. While there is plenty of boxing here to satisfy sports fans, the film is mild-mannered and genial to a fault as it charts the life of a dirt-poor Texas kid with a devastating punch whose public image transformed over the years from hulking bogeyman to that of a good-natured businessman and man of God.

In its initial opening weekend, "Creed III" genuinely knocked out box office expectations (and records), its competition, and prior "Rocky" first weekends all in one punch. This third franchise entry sees Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) confronted by his past in the form of childhood-friend-turned-enemy Damian "Dame" Anderson (Jonathan Majors). Following an early situation that left Dame locked up while Adonis got away, Dame reemerges after almost two decades' incarceration with dreams of restoring his once-promising early boxing career. It's yet another memorable performance from the electric Majors in bringing Dame to life, alongside Michael B. Jordan expanding the "Creed" universe as both filmmaker and star.
While "Creed III" certainly boasts great performances and stunningly executed fights, one of its greatest elements is the film's attention to detail, showcasing the filmmakers' love for and knowledge of the sport of boxing. Woven into Dame's arc, character, style, and fighting habits are...

When "Rocky" hit theaters in 1976, a good portion of the public was enthralled by the sport of boxing. Though some were repulsed by the violent spectacle of two human beings pounding the tar out of each other with eight-ounce gloves, heavyweight title fights drew huge television ratings worldwide, thanks in large part to the prominence of master self-promoter Muhammad Ali. His return to the sport, after being suspended for refusing to serve in the Vietnam War on religious grounds, resulted in a trilogy of unforgettable bouts with Joe Frazier and a rope-a-dope masterpiece against George Foreman. These fights were inspirational displays of intestinal fortitude fueled by searing emotional stakes. To lose the world heavyweight title on a global stage was to suffer a grievous blow to one's pride. Throwing in the towel was unthinkable. The only way Ali, Frazier or Foreman could allow themselves to lose was by knockout or decision.

John G. Avildsen's "Rocky" was a suitably scrappy production. Much like its palooka protagonist, it came out of the corner as an underdog. It was modestly budgeted enough to potentially turn a profit (thanks in part to the non-union New York City crew the director snuck into Philadelphia), but no one viewed the boxing flick, written by a nobody named Sylvester Stallone, as anything more than a programmer. Best case, it would ride the wave of excitement generated by the decade's heavyweight titans, and establish its screenwriter as a B-level star.
No one saw "Rocky" becoming the highest-grossing movie of 1976 while winning that year's Academy Award for Best Picture.
Movies are far more calculated ventures nowadays. Most prestige films are every bit as formulaic as your garden-variety superhero flick. There's a tried-and-true template for every genre, which means innovation, especially on a technical level, is best left to proven A-list directors.

"Rocky" has endured as one of the most uplifting sports films of all time thanks in large part to its heartfelt portrayal of two social misfits falling haltingly in love as one of them trains for an unlikely, yet plausible shot at the heavyweight boxing title. Sylvester Stallone and Talia Shire give lovely, lived-in performances that are painful to watch at times because Rocky has no idea how awkwardly his gregariousness lands, while Adrian seems terrified that anyone would find her worthy of affection.
For most of its runtime, "Rocky" is a human drama about losers. It soars to life during its Bill Conti-scored training montage that explodes the film into its exhilarating third act. Interestingly, the final match isn't all that long. From the opening bell to the end of the fifteenth round, it occupies a scant eight-and-a-half minutes of screen time. Los Angeles (USA), Aug 28 (Ians) A lawsuit filed in Los Angeles alleges that former Olympic gold medallist and two-time world heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman sexually assaulted at least two women in the 1970s, local media have reported.
The two women accused Foreman of sexually abusing them when they were teenagers and below the age of consent in the 1970s, Kabc-tv, the West Coast flagship station of the ABC network, reported on Friday.
The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, does not identify Foreman by name, but identifies the alleged abuser as a former professional heavyweight boxer who defeated Joe Frazier in 1973 to become the heavyweight champion of the world, said the report, adding that Foreman became champion after defeating Frazier on January 22, 1973, reports Xinhua.
Foreman, 73, has denied the allegations in a statement to ABC News, alleging people are “trying to extort millions of dollars each from me and my family.

Two women are suing George Foreman alleging they were raped by the boxing legend in the 1970s when they were teenagers.
In a pair of lawsuits, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, the women said their fathers worked with Foreman, who started grooming them as children. They claimed they were assaulted in California years after initially meeting him. They each seek upward of 25 million.
Foreman denied the allegations. “Over the past six months, two women have been trying to extort millions of dollars each from me and my family,” he said in a statement. “They are falsely claiming that I sexually abused them over 45 years ago in the 1970s. I adamantly and categorically deny these allegations. The pride I take in my reputation means as much to me as my sports accomplishments, and I will not be intimidated by baseless threats and lies.

Big Brother added a new name to its history books on Wednesday night, crowning its first-ever Black winner after a whopping 23 seasons.
Azah Awasum, Derek Frazier and Xavier Prather were the last three houseguests standing at the top of Wednesday’s two-hour finale — and the way TVLine readers saw it, at least, Xavier was poised to win that $750,000 prize when all was said and done. Ahead of the finale, 78 percent of you said Xavier would win Season 23, while 76 percent said he should triumph over Azah and Derek.

A Ken Burns documentary on legendary fighter Muhammad Ali sounds like the perfect union between filmmaker and subject — it also sounds like a topic Burns would have tackled long ago. Ali’s is a name that hasn’t diminished, let alone in the five years since his death from Parkinson’s, and the iconic sports star is still considered one of the greatest fighters of all time. Burns’ documentary shows exactly why that is, but the nearly eight-hour series also manages to break down Ali as a man, his connections with religion, and the lives of the numerous contenders he sought to conquer.
Like most of Burns’ documentaries, “Muhammad Ali” is a fairly comprehensive life-to-death examination of its title character, and all the basic tenets you’d expect are there. What’s fascinating, and makes the documentary so watchable, is the various throughlines Burns posits, starting with Ali’s fighting skills.

Though “Muhammad Ali” is debuting well after “The Last Dance,” it’s hard not to think of it as a sort of spiritual prequel to ESPN’s propulsive docuseries. “The Last Dance,” which detailed the rise of Michael Jordan as both a superstar athlete and unstoppable global brand, immediately became a sensation upon its April 2020 premiere. With Jordan on board as a subject, source and producer, “The Last Dance” told the story of a man, but also the story of the time and place in which he thrived. As an ever-charismatic Jordan gave his interviews from inside a seemingly palatial home, cigar and Scotch constantly at the ready, he made it easy to understand how he’d become such a colossal figure in sports and culture alike.

Rudy Giuliani has been suspended from practicing law in New York after a state appellate panel concluded that he made false and misleading statements in connection to his defense of client Donald Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
“These false statements were made to improperly bolster respondent’s narrative that due to widespread voter fraud, victory in the 2020 United States presidential election was stolen from his client,” the panel wrote.
They concluded that Giuliani’s conduct “immediately threatens the public interest and warrants interim suspension from the practice of law.” The suspension is an interim one pending further proceedings before the Attorney Grievance Committee.
Read the ruling here.
The judges pointed out that “only uncontroverted claims of professional” misconduct may serve as the basis for interim suspensions, which are based on violation of the New York Supreme Court’s rules of professional conduct.

At a time in which film and television production was on lockdown due to the emerging Coronavirus pandemic, Malcolm & Marie was the rare project heading into production. The $2.5 million indie about a late-night debate between a young couple got made because writer/director Sam Levinson answered Zendaya’s call to write a contained drama that might keep them and their Euphoria crew employed after the HBO drama was shuttered days before shooting a new season. They enlisted John David Washington to co-star and got him and others to invest in a project that has gone on to generate much awards buzz for all three. As the film hits Netflix, Mike Fleming Jr. meets the small team that came together to overcome the odds.
It was macaroni and cheese that convinced Sam Levinson Malcolm & Marie was on the right track.

Filmmakers have chased eye-popping visuals since George Melies’ 1902 “A Trip to the Moon.” Of course, all the visual stylings that helped propel the first sci-fi film to worldwide success now look antique; without the film’s groundbreaking approaches to storytelling, it would be a minor footnote rather than the cultural touchstone that also served as a key plot point in Martin Scorsese’s 2011 “Hugo.”
Scorsese took Melies’ lesson to heart with “The Irishman,” but it’s one that still eluded Ang Lee with “Gemini Man.” The innovative filmmaker, like others before him, was so hellbent on dragging moviegoers into seeing cinema the way he does, that he forgot to give them a compelling story.
When Scorsese agreed to make “The Irishman,” he did so only after a 2015 VFX test comparing Robert De Niro in “Goodfellas” to the then-72-year-old actor’s recreation of some scenes, with Pablo Helman’s Ilm de-aging effects added.

Donald Trump loves to mock the former vice president of the United States as “Sleepy Joe,” but coming off a less-than-stellar performance during the last debate, Joe Biden was aiming for full Joe Frazier mode in the Motor City tonight against his relentless rivals with some Rope-a-Dope moves too.
Unmentioned last night in the first of the second round of Democratic debates, when Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Bernie Sanders and eight other contenders made the 140-characters version of their pitch to replace the ex-Celebrity Apprentice host in the Oval Office, Biden was first on-stage in Detroit tonight and circled the ring promptly to successfully get his bruised campaign back off the mat, so to speak.
“Go easy on me, kid,” said one of America’s last retail politicians to rival Kamala Harris when California’s junior senator came out next to cheers.

The premiere of HBO’s upcoming documentary about the life of Muhammad Ali more closely resembled a boxing hall of fame induction than your typical Hollywood event, with some of the best fighters of all time coming together to pay tribute to their idol.
Boxing legends Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Ray Leonard, “Sugar” Shane Mosley, fight announcers Michael and Bruce Buffer and the legend’s own daughter Laila Ali were just some who celebrated Ali’s legacy at the premiere for the 2-part HBO documentary “What’s My Name?” in Downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Ali hadn’t seen the finished film, but was looking forward to hearing her father tell his own story.

Could Muhammad Ali be headed to Broadway? Producer David Sonenberg is developing a musical stage adaptation of the 1996, Oscar-winning documentary “When We Were Kings,” it was announced Thursday.
“When We Were Kings” documents the legendary 1974 fight between Ali and George Foreman, better known as “The Rumble in the Jungle,” that was held in Zaire, Africa. Sonenberg, who executive produced the documentary directed by Leon Gast, is now bringing it to the stage with a workshop scheduled for spring 2019 and plans for a full stage musical production the following year.
The book for the musical is adapted from the film and is written by Shelley Marcus. The songs for the musical are R&B classics from the 1974 Zaire music festival, with the exception of “Rumble In The Jungle,” which was written by The Fugees for the film.

HBO said today that it will end its live boxing programming at the end of 2018, a final bell at the pay-cable network that made the sport famous with the advent pay-per-view and by showcasing superstars from Mike Tyson, Oscar de La Hoya and Sugar Ray Leonard to Floyd Mayweather and Roy Jones Jr.
HBO Sports’ first live boxing broadcast was in 1973, when it covered George Foreman’s victory over Joe Frazier in Jamaica for the world heavyweight title. Its 1,100-plus fights since then included Evander Holyfield-Foreman in 1991, one of the first PPV fights, on Tvko (later renamed HBO PPV).
But viewership ratings have been in decline, partly because of the rise in popularity of Mma, and also the proliferation of outlets that feature their own boxing programming. What has easily been the biggest “will they/won’t they” event of the television season is finally coming up next week — Donald Trump’s summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un in Singapore — and Stephen Colbert opened his monologue on “The Late Show” Thursday night clowning Trump for thinking he can just do this thing without really trying.
“We are just days away from Donald Trump’s summit with Kim Jong-Un. Truly historic. The stakes are almost as high as Trump and Kim’s cholesterol. They’re calling this one the Lipitor in Singapore,” Colbert joked, referencing old nicknames for boxing matches like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier’s “Thrilla in Manila” back in 1975.
“Quick reminder: the fallout of this meeting could be actual fallout. But don’t worry. As Trump explained during a joint press conference with Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe today, he is primed and ready.

For much of his career, boxing great Muhammad Ali was convinced that his brain wouldn’t be affected by the thousands of powerful, crippling blows he received from his opponents, says the author of a recently released biography on the iconic fighter.
