Madonna, Britney, and Jt Entertain Stadium of Stars

7 November 2008 9:00 AM, PST | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

The stage wasn't the only place with big-name appearances at Madonna's La concert last night. Stars like Jennifer Lopez, Isla Fisher, Kate Moss, and Heidi Klum all made it out to Dodger Stadium see the energetic live performance. The trek through traffic wasn't for nothing — Britney looked fantastic during her brief appearance on stage, and Justin performed "4 Minutes" complete with some very sexy dance moves. It must have been quite a moment to see Madonna kiss Britney's hand and exclaim to the audience "She's not your b*tch" before Britney chimed in "It's Britney, b*tch," which is usually just on video. Ryan Seacrest, who first revealed the news of the exciting guest appearances, was of course among the spectators at last night's memorable show. To see more photos from the show including Hayden Panettiere in a very risque shirt, Dennis Quaid, Lucy Liu, Amanda Bynes, and more, just read more.

Discuss: Coolest Movie Presidents

4 November 2008 6:03 PM, PST | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

I gotta keep this short because you shouldn't be in front of a computer right now unless you've already voted. And I haven't yet. But since we pride ourselves on being oh-so-timely and up-to-date with what's going on in the world, I offer this obvious discussion topic and then say "Go Truman."

So who are your favorite movie presidents? If you're stuck, here's a little game:

Eddie Albert, Jeff Bridges, Lloyd Bridges, Josh Brolin, James Caan, Ronny Cox, James Cromwell, Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, James Garner, Kelsey Grammer, Bruce Greenwood, Gene Hackman, Dan Hedaya, Hal Holbrook, William Hurt, Perry King, Kevin Kline, Tiny Lister, Bob Newhart, Jack Nicholson, James Earl Jones, Leslie Nielsen, Donald Pleasance, Bill Pullman, Dennis Quaid, David Rasche, John Ritter, Tim Robbins, Cliff Robertson, Martin Sheen, Billy Bob Thornton, Jack Warden, Robin Williams

Name the movie in which those actors played the U.S. President.

The Weekly Wrap-Up: October 18-24, 2008

24 October 2008 11:18 PM, PDT | From DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news

The week of October 18-24, 2008, was all about trailers, trailers, and more trailers -- for some highly anticipated and much discussed re-imaginings of classic genre films along with quite a few promising indies. And we got posters. Lots of new posters were revealed over the past seven days as well.

But first up is info on a pair of horror/sci-fi hybrids. Bill Malone describes his upcoming Phoenix Dust as a "sweeping sci-fi with kickass babes and gang-banger robots" while the somewhat Cube-sounding Pandorum stars Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster as crew members who awaken on a spaceship with no knowledge of who they are or why they’re there.

Two of this Woman's favorite things are award shows and film festivals, and both are covered in this week's Wrap-Up. The 2008 Scream Awards went down on October 18th, and the list of winners can be found right here. People have

First Photos from Pandorum

20 October 2008 11:18 AM, PDT | From www.canmag.com | See recent CanMag news

Any film that is being compared to a mixture of Event Horizon and The Abyss already has my attention. Event Horizon could be one of the scariest space movies I've ever seen and The Abyss, when watching the extended edition, is just incredible.

In comes Pandorum, a sci-fi thriller starring Ben Foster and Dennis Quaid.

Pandorum Photos

While little is still known about Pandorum, here is a brief synopsis of the project:

A dark and claustrophobic tale about two crewmen who awaken aboard their spacecraft, unaware of their mission or their identities. As they piece things together, the men make a harrowing discovery that threatens the survival of mankind.

First Look: Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster in Sci-Fi Thriller Pandorum

19 October 2008 4:48 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

I would've expected an intense deep space sci-fi thriller with an impressive cast to have more buzz, but this is the first time I've even heard about this. Pandorum is directed and co-written by German filmmaker Christian Alvart, who just made the leap to Hollywood after directing the 2005 horror flick Antibodies. Starring Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster, and Cam Gigandet, Pandorum is about a pair of crew members aboard a spaceship that wake up with no knowledge of their mission or their identities. Courtesy of this week's Entertainment Weekly, we've got our first look at two rather interesting stills from the film, as well as a poster made to sell it, all adding together as our first introduction to this oddly appealing sci-fi film. Quaid explains: "There's nobody around, we can't get anybody on the radio. We can't even recall what our mission is." The second photo shows Ben Foster waking

Box-Office Wrap-Up: Oct. 17 - Oct. 19, 2008

19 October 2008 4:35 PM, PDT | From Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

A couple of surprises this weekend, let's get right into it. #1 movie predicted correctly: 1 Week In A Row 1. Max Payne Nice prediction, right? And the production budget was only $35m so they're setting themselves up nicely for that unrrated DVD. I would have liked this film if only Wahlberg would have enjoyed the company of Olga Kurylenko a bit more. It's all about realism with me. Result: 18.0 million (My rank: #1, $0.1m off) 2. Beverly Hills Chihuahua Two films, a hundred K off on each. The issue was that no one wanted to see W.. At all. Result: 11.2 million (My rank: #3, $0.1m off) 3. The Secret Life of Bees A legitimate shocker. The family dollar comes through again, and the budget was only $11m. Most of that was spent on southern looking porch swings. Result: 11.0 million (My rank: #8, $6.7m off) 4. W. Can you blame people for not seeing this? It's like being involved

Who are they? As they try to piece things together, they discover they are not alone, and the ship's new inhabitants - tribal warriors carrying crudely made weapons - are moving among them, intent on killing all aboard. Movie Reviews: The Express

13 October 2008 10:33 AM, PDT | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

The inspirational football flick The Express received decent reviews, which didn't help it much at the box office. In his three-star review of the movie, Roger Ebert acknowledged in the Chicago Sun-Times: "I'm a fall guy for movies like this. Yes, I see the formula grinding away, as it actually must, because Davis' real life corresponds to it. I can't remember a film about an untalented athlete, and not many about losing teams (they always win in the end). In the final analysis, it's not how you play the game that counts, but whether you win or lose." Similarly, A.O. Scott observed in the New York Times that the movie is an honorable example of a tried-and-true formula, squarely aimed at a presumably large cross-section of the moviegoing public: people who love football and hate racism." In reviewing the movie for Newsday, John Anderson gave high marks to the performances of Rob Brown as the real-life player Ernie Davis and, and Dennis Quaid, who plays his coach, Ben Schwartzwalder. "Quaid is terrific and so is Brown," writes Anderson. "And given the action and the easily exploitable subject matter, The Express is a far more human story than it needed, on someone's spreadsheet, to be."

It’s that time of the week again.

This week we see who is riding high at the box office; Hex marks the spot for Josh Brolin; Eric Bana is Armored; Frank Darabont isn’t a Law Abiding Citizen and we discover what Robert Downey Jr looks like as Sherlock Holmes.

Box Office

This week Beverly Hills Chihuahua remained top do with a second week gross of around $18 million. Frightener flick Quarantine opened strongly in second place with a solid $14 million, while Ridley Scott’s Leonardo DiCaprio/ Russell Crowe starrer Body of Lies bowed to $13 million. That’s gotta hurt. Scott, Crowe and Di Caprio don’t come cheap, so the film will have to scoop some major award nods to help it make some solid bank. Having said that; with the film’s pedigree there should be some big international numbers to help off-set the lacklustre Us gross. The
