Writer/director Kevin S. Tenney’s 1986 horror film Witchboard is one of my all-time favorites, and I also enjoy the 1993 sequel Witchboard 2: The Devil’s Doorway, which has previously received a Blu-ray release from Olive Films. Yesterday, Tenney took to his Facebook account to share a picture of him with Witchboard 2 star Ami Dolenz and reveal that a Blu-ray re-release was in the works at some unspecified company… but, unfortunately, has been postponed indefinitely for reasons Tenney didn’t reveal.
Tenney wrote, “Hung out with the lovely and talented Ami Dolenz while she gave an on-camera interview in her living room for a Blu-ray re-release of Witchboard 2, which was due to come out earlier this year. This is the only on-camera interview she’s ever recorded for our film as far as I know, but unfortunately its release has been postponed indefinitely for the time being…“

A couple months ago, we looked back at the 1988 film Pumpkinhead with an episode of our Best Horror Movie You Never Saw video series. Now we’re moving on to an examination of the 1994 sequel Pumpkinhead 2: Blood Wings (watch it Here) – and since this isn’t exactly one of the most popular sequels around, we’re covering it in an episode of our The Black Sheep video series. To find out why we think Pumpkinhead II deserves more appreciation, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Jeff Burr from a screenplay written by Constantine Chachornia and Ivan Chachornia, Pumpkinhead 2: Blood Wings has the following synopsis: In a small Kansas town in 1958, a group of teenagers torture and kill a disfigured orphan named Tommy. After 35 years, another gang of teens robs the cabin of an old witch. Using some blood and a spell taken from her house, the...

Hello, everyone! As we get ready to head into December, we have one last round of home media releases for this month on tap first. If you haven’t had a chance to check out James Wan’s Malignant yet, Warner Bros. is releasing it on both Blu-ray and DVD, and A24 is finally bringing Saint Maud home this Tuesday, too. Both Summer of 84 and Ticks are getting the 4K treatment, and Severin Films is showing some love to Ruggero Deodato’s Raiders of Atlantis as well.
Other titles being released on November 30th include Wild Indian and The Last Matinee.
Malignant
“Malignant” marks director James Wan’s return to his roots with this new original horror thriller. In the film, a woman is paralyzed by shocking visions of grisly murders, and her torment worsens as she discovers that these waking dreams are in fact terrifying realities.

Ami Dolenz stole many hearts in the 1980s. Best know for her stints on Growing Pains and General Hospital, Dolenz was a fixture on many television sets for years. Given all of the crazy happenings in the world, people are curious to find out where she went. It is true that Dolenz has had a prolific acting career, but many would be surprised to find out the many things that she has pursued since leaving the limelight. It is also important to note how many good things that she has done away from the big screen. In fact, she recently

It’s impossible for me to hide the fact that Scream Factory is one of my favorite boutique media labels. As far as content goes, they give me the type of films that I really want to see on the Blu-ray format. They’ve had a strong first couple of years, and I see no signs of them slowing down anytime soon. Two of the biggest… neigh, The two biggest releases of the 2014 Halloween Seasons is coming from these guys. I’m speaking, of course, about the Director’s Cut of Nightbreed, as well as the Complete Halloween Collection. But you’ve already heard about those, and pre-ordered them, right? Well, here is their entire fall(Sept/Oct… And some November, cause shut up.) lineup, in case a few have slipped by you.

So yeah, Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings is pretty far from a perfect sequel. Yet, in comparison to the two Syfy sequels, it may as well be likened to the quality of Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. Read on for the skinny on the Scream Factory's upcoming Blu-ray release!

Scream Factory’s Blu-ray release of Pumpkinhead, was one of their most impressive releases of the year (so far). That review will be up this evening. In the meantime today Scream Factory announces their release of Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings, to be released on Blu-ray on October 28th. We all knew it was coming, but now we know exactly when, we have the cover art, and we have a list of the bonus content. This isn’t going to be quite as extra-heavy as their release of the previous film, but I have no doubts that it will be a solid release regardless. Plus, how cool is it to have the sequel sitting right next to the original on your carefully-organized shelves? Check out the press release below, and click here, or here, to pre-order your copy today.

Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings was originally released in the UK at a time when I was heavily getting into horror yet was, legally, still too young to rent 18-rated titles from the local video shop (a shop which to this day I credit with the formative years of my movie tastes). It was also at a time when Jeff Burr was being hailed, at least in some corners of the UK and Us horror press, as the future of the genre. After all, he had helmed the fan-favourite Vincent Price-starring horror anthology From a Whisper to a Scream and then the very successful sequel The Stepfather 2, before hitting the “big time” as director on the third film in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.

Many past American Presidents have had issues with family members causing embarrassing headlines, but only one ex-President’s troublemaking half-brother can lay claim to having co-starred in and performed the title song to a Pumpkinhead movie.
While William Jefferson Clinton was serving as the 42nd President of the United States, his half-brother, nicknamed “Headache” by the Secret Service, was trying to jumpstart a showbiz career. Roger Clinton managed to parlay his lounge act into a series of small TV guest starring roles, and the nadir of his Hollywood career was playing “Mayor Bubba” in the 1994 direct-to-video sequel Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings.
In addition to his supporting role, he also crooned the film’s theme song “Just Like You” that sounds a little too mellow for a backwoods horror flick about selling your soul to Satan in order to unleash an enormous hellbeast that inflicts murderous revenge against those that have wronged you.

If you’re a child of the 1980’s, you’ll likely remember Ami Dolenz for her roles on films like Can’t Buy Me Love, She’s Out of Control, and Miracle Beach and guest spots on Silver Spoons, Webster, and Saved by the Bell: The College Years. She even played Sloan in the short-lived TV adaptation of Ferris Bueller. The actress, however, is no stranger to the horror genre as she’s had parts in films from Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings to the greatest (and quite possibly only) movie ever made about giant killer ticks, Ticks. Tony Randel’s 1993 flick is an absolute blast and an obvious time capsule of early 90’s movie clichés, in the very best way possible.
With Olive Films’ new Blu-ray of Ticks recently hitting stores, FEARnet sat down with Dolenz to discuss her memories of the film, Seth Green’s hair, and creepy crawlies.

A Planet Fury-approved selection of notable genre DVD releases for the month of January.
Lightning Bug (2004) Image Entertainment Blu-ray and DVD Available Now
Effects guru Robert Hall’s semi-autobiographical film about a small town teen (Reaper's Bret Harrison) who has aspirations to become a special effects artist. An opportunity to manage the town’s local haunted house is thwarted by his alcoholic stepfather and the staunchly religious views of the surrounding population. The solid supporting cast includes That 70’s Show’s Laura Prepon, Hellraiser’s Ashely Lawrence and Kevin Gage. Written and directed by Hall, it’s an affectionate coming-of-age drama that works in spite of an uneven narrative that falls apart in the final half hour. Hopefully this new extended cut will remedy the scripting problems of the original release.
Special Features include:
* Never-before-released extended cut of the film.
* Making-of Featurette
* Audio commentaries with the writer/director and cast.

Olive Films doesn’t get as much love as Scream Factory, but they also do their part to bring cult movies into the age of Blu-ray. That continues early next year when the 1993 creepy crawler Ticks gets its due along with a new (and presumably upgraded) edition of Stephen King’s Cujo.
Olive Films’ release of Ticks is being billed as a “20th Anniversary Edition” even though it could just as easily be touted as “First-Time Ever on…” seeing how the underrated film has never received a proper DVD release, let alone Blu-ray.
Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 director Tony Randel helmed this skin-crawling creature feature about mutant ticks that infest the adorable Ami Dolenz (Blood Wings: Pumpkinhead 2), a pre-"Family Guy"/"Robot Chicken"/Austin Powers Seth Green, “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” co-star Alfonso Ribeiro, Children of the Corn 2: The Final Sacrifice survivor Rosalind Allen, Tom Hanks’ “Bosom Buddies” better half Peter Scolari,...

I am not sure what took so long, but director Kevin Tenney, someone who didn’t grow up on horror films, thought about doing a movie where a Ouija board was the star. That brings me to the 1993 sequel, Witchboard 2: The Devil’s Doorway, a movie I think is just as good, if not better, than Witchboard.
Jason Bene: How long after the financial success of Witchboard did you decide to write and direct the sequel?
Kevin Tenney: The production company, Paragon Arts International, and I talked about it right away. Their investors were all very anxious to fund a Witchboard sequel. But Paragon Arts wanted to leverage that interest by having them invest in another film first, entitled Night Angel. Paragon was going to quickly produce that film and then go straight into Witchboard 2. Unfortunately, they had a lot of problems with production and budget on Night Angel,...

Ok, have you Tossers ever heard of “Generic Brands”? Good…Well, in movies we also have that, unfortunately for us it means that an extremely low budget film of a “Major Blockbuster” is being made. Which means the smaller, relatively unknown studios will make a carbon-copy movie in-and-around the same time-frame as the bigger, well established studios with the same idea as the Major, Big Budgeted, Hollywood Machine has done…but with a different plot.
Which brings us to the movie, “2012: Doomsday” brought to us by Faith Films. It stars Cliff Dee Young (The Craft,The Substitute), Ami Dolenz (Step Monster, Miracle Beach, The Children of Times Square), and Danae Nason (Transmorphers, Come Home, Countdown: Jerusalem). Some of these actors and actresses are better known for their roles in within the Christian Film community.
The plot of this movie is really simple, and it is quite easy to understand.

I don't - I know that much, although I'm certain there are plenty of men who would disagree (and that's okay with me, to each his own!). The simple fact remains however, women bring a unique appeal and certain sensual atmosphere to film that no man ever could. And it's not all about gratuitous T&A.
There's a comforting quality in the hands of the heroine; a fascinating maternal strength that, as a man I cannot genuinely relate to. I can however admire, and in many cases it's nearly impossible to not admire the lone...
