There are various categories through which Marvel and DC influence media. In forms of literature and that of movies, series, and mangas; superheroes have their essence in one way or another. The latest in the lot happens to be Kagurabachi. The manga has surpassed all expectations with only two volumes out for fans to read.

The art is absolutely mesmerizing and the story happens to be one captivating enough to grip fans even after the memes faded eventually. The manga has since been gaining massive popularity to the point where the fans are getting impatient for a possible anime. However, it its inspiration that strikes a nerve for the DC enthusiasts more than anything else.
Hokazono Takeru Found Kagurabachi’s Inspiration Not in the DC Universe
Kagurabachi’s mangaka recently gave an interview with Asahi Shimbun, in which he revealed facts about himself and the manga.

In the first week of May 2024, the first images of James Gunn's Superman were posted, with David Corenswet now inhabiting the role of the Man of Steel.
Looking at Corenswet, it's easy to see that this Superman is a throwback to Christopher Reeve's groovy interpretation of the Superman of 1978.
Not just a superhuman being but a likable dork with a heart of gold, the Superman that baby boomers fell in love with.
It's the opposite of what Zack Snyder envisioned with Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice -- an aging Superman feeling alienated from humankind and looking downright surly.
(The face of Henry Cavill's Superman, that imperious, disenchanted, loveless face, was a work of art. He would do a fantastic job as a villain for a change.)
Despite perfect casting, Snyder went full Emo Superman with his Dcu, adding a splash of moodiness...

It’s almost time for the Fantasia Film Festival! North America’s premiere genre festival has become the place to be if you’re a horror aficionado, and as a proud Montrealer, I get a kick out of the fact that it all takes place in my home city. I’ve been attending the festival for many years, and I always end up seeing some incredible movies. Last year’s Fantasia featured the Canadian premiere of what’s probably the best horror movie of the last year or so – Late Night With The Devil, and this year’s program seems certain to be another winner, with Fantasia announcing the first wave of titles today.
Here are some of the highlights:

The 2000s saw the action genre in a state of flux. The Matrix revolutionized everything at the end of the previous decade, The Bourne Supremacy would make shaky cameras standard practice in 2004, and the MCU would take flight with Iron Man in 2008. At the same time, Michael Bay reached his ultimate form with Bad Boys II, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Kill Bill made kung fu classy, and Oldboy changed the way we look at hallways.
Within those changes came a host of greats that didn’t get the same attention. Some of these movies represent the first steps in the development of those who would define the genre, such as Scott Adkins and Gareth Evans. Some find stars at the height of the powers, such as Donny Yen and Michael Jai White. And some are just cool, because that’s really all an action movie needs.

Eight years after the last Star Trek film, Chris Pine is among the many who would like to know if there’s another voyage planned.
Pine is making the rounds to promote his new film, Poolman, and didn’t have anything to share on when the space franchise may be refreshed.
“I honestly don’t know,” Pine told Business Insider this week when asked about a new Star Trek. “There was something in the news of a new writer coming on board. I thought there was already a script, but I guess I was wrong, or they decided to pivot. As it’s always been with Trek, I just wait and see.”
Pine was clear that communication from Paramount about the franchise has been fairly minimal ever since the release of Star Trek Beyond in 2016.
While television and streaming have lots of Star Trek projects, there has been no movement on a film.

Chris Pine was taken by surprise when news hit that Steve Yockey, creator of the Max series “The Flight Attendant,” had signed on to write the script for “Star Trek 4.” Why? “I thought there was already a script,” the actor recently told Business Insider during an interview on his “Poolman” press tour.
Pine’s not wrong, as a potential “Star Trek 4” has gone through multiple iterations in the years since the 2016 release of “Star Trek Beyond.” Pine took on the role of Captain Kirk in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 franchise reboot “Star Trek,” and reprised the character in 2013’s “Star Trek Into Darkness” and 2016’s “Beyond.” Variety exclusively reported in March that Paramount Pictures remained committed to making a fourth “Star Trek” film to be headlined by Pine and his co-stars.
The actor’s fellow “Star Trek” cast members include Zachary Quinto (as Cmdr. Spock), Zoe Saldaña (as Lt.

Being one of the best modern filmmakers with his personal zest that makes his movies stand out, Quentin Tarantino has received numerous accolades for his work in the industry throughout the years of his long-standing career, though not many may know that he actually wasn’t that much recognised for one of his finest scripts.
This fact may indeed come as something surprising given that all of the director’s movies have become a cult classic, but the point here is that Tarantino never got to direct what could’ve been his most brilliant film.
Back in the 1990s Tarantino was yet an unknown, but ambitious aspiring director whose career was put on hold due to the fact that he didn’t have too much money. To finance his directorial debut, Reservoir Dogs released in 1992, Tarantino sold his screenplay destined for another movie to Tony Scott. He later on adapted...

At some point I may stop sounding like a broken record, but for the moment, as a box office analyst covering the entertainment industry, it is hard not to hit the pessimism alarm. The summer season kicked off with an unfortunate whimper as Universal's very well-liked "The Fall Guy" opened to less than $30 million on opening weekend -- well below projections. That is, without exaggeration, the worst start to summer in decades. Sad to say, it isn't going to get any better any time soon. And I don't just mean through 2024. This past weekend, and other recent industry trends, have shown us that Hollywood has no clear, easy path forward. This summer merely seems like it's going to be illustrative of the larger problem.
Let's start with "The Fall Guy." We're talking about a movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, coming off of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer," respectively. Already well-liked stars,...

Exclusive: Faye Dunaway (Bonnie & Clyde), Harvey Keitel (Bugsy) and Andrew McCarthy (The Blacklist) have signed on to star in Fate, a suspenseful, supernatural romance that will launch international sales via Highland Film Group at Cannes.
Set to enter production in Vancouver this month, the film’s plot is under wraps, though its key location, the fictional Vista hotel, is said to draw inspiration from the iconic Los Angeles movie theater of the same name, which filmmaker Quentin Tarantino refurbished in 2022. Jonathan Baker is directing and producing the project, which has been in development for five years, and tells Deadline, “there is an excellent chance it will stand as one of the most memorable love stories of our time.”
Known for iconic turns in films like Bonnie & Clyde and Chinatown, Dunaway comes to Fate after collaborating with Baker on his debut feature Inconceivable, a 2017 thriller also starring Gina Gershon, Nicky Whelan and Nicolas Cage.

The movie genre of actions is often associated with the male leading characters who fight for the world’s peace or power. However, there are some female action leads who make their movies stand out among the great number of the genre’s features.
Here are 7 of the most memorable female-led action movies, chosen by Redditors.
Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003)
This martial arts feature probably comes first to mind in this respect, as Uma Thurman’s Bride is one of the most deadly and cultish onscreen assassins in history. Everyone saw Quentin Tarantino’s timeless masterpiece at least once in their lives, and it’s worth it.

Nobody’s safe when it comes to Brian Cox speaking out about the industry and even some other staff that have nothing to do with the cinema. Kagurabachi‘s Chihiro set himself apart from other Shonen heroes from the very first chapter. While most Shonen protagonists have an uplifting aura around them, Chihiro is the exact opposite.
Chapter 1 of Kagurabachi revealed Chihiro’s dark past, and it was abundantly clear that the character means business. Any distraction is simply not allowed, which is probably why the manga fetched such a high viewership rate as soon as it debuted.
In an interview, Kagurabachi’s author, Hokazono Takeru, talked in detail about how he created Chihiro and his story.

Takeru Hokazono, the creator of the series, started Kagurabachi in September last year, and the first volume was released in February 2024, making quite a name for itself. With only one volume, the Kagurabachi broke multiple records.

Quentin Tarantino does not view Kill Bill as two separate films. That should be acknowledged upfront as fair. After all, it is this detail which allows Tarantino the ability to claim Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood as his ninth instead of 10th film (thereby delaying any obligatory early retirements). And to be sure, Tarantino shot Kill Bill as one epic vision that was only encouraged to be broken up by, ahem, Harvey Weinstein while Tarantino was finishing up principal photography.
So while the story was released as Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2, they’re two sides of the same tale. Be that as it may, there’s no denying that they’re two incredibly different sides. Whether a creative choice made in post-production after realizing he had hours more of running time to play with, or because the filmmaker was already at his most indulgent...

Kagurabachi, which started serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump in the latter half of 2023, has gained quite the popularity among fans due to its action packed storyline and the revenge filled theme at its center.
In an interview put out on Manga Plus, the manga’s editor Takuro Imamura revealed the inspirations that led author Takeru Hokazono to craft such a story.
Talking about the revenge aspect, Imamura said that Hokazono always aspired to “make a revenge story” and get serialized in Jump. The one shots that he had drawn before also had similar themes.
Simply put, the revenge genre was Hokazono’s favorite, thanks to his love for Western movies, especially those directed by Quentin Tarantino.
These movies, along with the recent John Wick instalments served as an inspiration for the author to craft the unique setting in Kagurabachi manga.

Francis Galluppi’s tense and darkly funny The Last Stop in Yuma County begins with an unnamed traveling knife salesman (Jim Cummings) rolling up at the titular Arizona rest stop, looking to fill his tank. The place is nothing more than a couple of gas pumps, a tiny motel, and an old-school diner, complete with red leather booths and an infinite supply of strong black coffee. Despite the locale’s humble appearance, it’s about to become the site of a thrilling showdown that finds a fascinating mix of misfit characters caught in the crossfire.
The attendant, Vernon (Faizon Love), gives our protagonist the bad news first: They don’t have a drop of gas left to sell and the next stop isn’t for a hundred miles. There’s no way the salesman’s car will make it that far, so he’s stuck here until the next delivery arrives.

Even in Hollywood, there is a strong divide between Eastern and Western movies, one that Helen Mirren understands all too well. The classic films find themselves split into different genres, with the Western becoming one of its own. Mirren’s name is one associated with skill, talent, and sheer amount of grandeur as an actress, justifying her many accolades.
Helen Mirren in 1923
The actress has always found herself acknowledging as well as critiquing films that come and go. Some stand out for her while others don’t. Amongst the lot stands Western films, something the actress wanted to steer clear of. Ironic, one might consider it to be. Seeing that Mirren found herself starring in the Yellowstone spin-off alongside Harrison Ford. Her entire perspective towards such works was changed after watching one Quentin Tarantino Movie.

While Quentin Tarantino is considered to be the king of dialogue, his movies’ lines, with all their wholesomeness, clearly lack realism. However, there are movies in which onscreen conversations are really close to real ones, depicting the truth of life.
Here are 7 examples of such truthfully made movies, handpicked by Redditors.
1. Superbad (2007)
Jonah Hill and Michael Cera’s coming-of-age comedy doesn’t really mince words showing the truthful image of the American youth of different interests.
“It was exactly like how high schoolers spoke to each other in 2007,” fairly admits @dabisnit.
2. Uncut Gems (2019)
Directed by Benny and Josh Safdies, this crime thriller is very dialogue-heavy, with lots of multiple conversations happening simultaneously and fastly spoken utterances, which sounds really natural, being reminiscent of our daily communication in the big city.
3. Manchester By the Sea (2016)
“I love that there are no deep monologues. Every bit of dialogue feels real,” as voiced by Redditor @backinredd.

As you know, Rotten Tomatoes rates individual reviews based on a single criterion: for or against the movie. This is more universal than the good old star system, which implies an element of indecision and therefore doubt: what does three out of five stars even mean?
Rotten Tomatoes boils it all down to a binary system – red tomato versus crushed green tomato – that adds up the scores of all reviewers and creates a single rating, making it so convenient to navigate the multitude of TV and movie projects.
Sometimes, however, the opinions of viewers and critics are radically opposite. And one of the clearest examples of this discrepancy is the movie The Boondock Saints, with perhaps the widest gap between critics' and audiences' ratings ever – 26% versus 91%, respectively.
What is The Boondock Saints About?

Imagine what it was like in the 1990s -- and being constantly told and reminded that Tarantino was revolutionizing cinema.
Not only was Quentin Tarantino's indie project being worshiped by film critics in 1994, but it was also being staged as the antithesis to the year's other subversive comedy, Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks.
Forrest Gump represented traditional values and innocence. (Though screenwriter Eric Roth nor Winston Groom ever intended the character that way)
Pulp Fiction represented cynicism and brutality triumphing over good intentions. It was an Oscar race partly conceived by Miramax and Harvey Weinstein, who, believe it or not, used to be good at other things besides...well, you know.
It was impossible for Gen X not to embrace Pulp Fiction as their generation's movie and the one that most spoke to their maturing culture. Maybe amid the media storm, I was the only one who saw what was happening.

After the incredible success of Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan roped in Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford for the prequel series 1923. It follows the story of the Dutton family in 1923, where Mirren played Cara Dutton and Ford played her husband Jacob Dutton. Mirren is not an actress to walk into a television show without reading a script. On top of that, she hated most of the “normal” Western films. However, she signed on to the Yellowstone spin-off without a script.

Kevin Costner is heavily into Western drama when he’s not doing his sports drama films. The actor headlined Taylor Sheridan’s series set in a Montana ranch, Yellowstone. He’s also currently working on his two-part dream Western project, Horizon. With all his love for the cowboy genre, it would be surprising for fans to know that Costner turned down a villain role in Django Unchained.

We’re zapping into science fiction territory and back into “re-adaptation” conversations this month for Revenge of the Remakes. Don Siegel and Philip Kaufman bring vastly different approaches to their Invasion of the Body Snatchers films, uniformly citing Jack Finney’s 1954 novel “The Body Snatchers” as their source. Kaufman isn’t directly remaking Siegel’s film but acknowledges its existence multiple times; there’s a literary influence behind both features, yet Kaufman can’t ignore what already exists. The same conversation arose in my The Fly analysis, and will assuredly surface again down the road. Invasion of the Body Snatchers can’t help itself from being a remake, and with decades apart, Kaufman evolves the product into a contemporary extraterrestrial nightmare (speaking for the late 1970s).
Everything about Invasion of the Body Snatchers showcases how cinematic advancements benefit remakes like The Blob or House on Haunted Hill, reimaginings of classics...

Whether it has to do with his style of filmmaking or his maverick take on cinema, Quentin Tarantino stands apart from his contemporaries in Hollywood. The director has carved a niche for himself in the industry with his brand of storytelling that has caught the fancy of audiences across the world while also throwing up a lot of talking points regarding his stylized approach to violence.

Madonna has many obvious predecessors but Smokey Robinson is not one of them. Despite that, Robinson influenced one of the key ingredients of Madonna’s “Like a Virgin.” The Queen of Pop revealed what she thought of “Like a Virgin” and some of her other early songs in retrospect.

Quentin Tarantino has a few strict policies on his film sets, including banning cell phones. But he didn’t always have this rule in place. It wasn’t until a Kill Bill incident that Tarantino felt cell phones had to go.

Tarantino’s strict cell phone policy didn’t just spring out of nowhere. The filmmaker puts a lot of focus and work into making his movies what they end up being on screen. So, he’s had little tolerance for mistakes on set that might jeopardize the process. While making Kill Bill, someone received a phone call at possibly the worst time during production. And Tarantino immediately felt there needed to be a change.

Quentin Tarantino did not go to film school, he did not even graduate from high school – his only real teachers were the movies themselves.
In 1988, he wrote Reservoir Dogs, a crime thriller about criminals who gather in an abandoned warehouse after a botched robbery. Reservoir Dogs was released in 1992 and immediately put Tarantino's name in the history of cinema. Reservoir Dogs was followed by other hits – Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill – each of which became cult in its own way.
Stephen King Says Kill Bill is Dull
However, Stephen King disagrees with the cult status of one of these movies, speaking rather harshly about Kill Bill:
“The blah movie was Kill Bill. […] Kill Bill isn't a benchmark of awfulness like Mars Attacks! or Mommie Dearest, it's just dully full of itself.”
In an Entertainment Weekly article, the writer discussed movies that matter and movies that don't. According to King,...
