From 2010 to now, Blue Bloods has entertained viewers with its epic police drama storyline on CBS. Featuring the lives of the Reagan family, all members of law enforcement, the series stars Tom Selleck in the lead. Although the ratings of the show have somewhat plummeted in the last few years with each subsequent season, Blue Bloods is still among the top shows of all time.

Despite its huge popularity and fan base, CBS made the shocking decision to cancel it after its 14th season. While fans are disappointed, nobody is more disappointed than Selleck and the actor vows to bring the show back.

"Star Wars" trilogies are a flat circle, and George Lucas was right when he said "it's like poetry, it rhymes." Much like the prequel trilogy, the sequel trilogy created incredible excitement and anticipation, with "The Force Awakens" trailer breaking viewership records and fans everywhere obsessing over every detail, every character, every quote. And much like the prequel trilogy, things went downhill quick, with the movies disappointing a lot of people, and fandom going nuts and bullying the cast and crew incessantly until they drove some of them off public appearances and the internet, and until they all but swear off the franchise they were once huge fans of.
Still, for a little while, the excitement was palpable and infectious, not just among fans but even press. For example: people only asked Andy Serkis, who played the "Star Wars" villain Snoke, about "The Force Awakens" when all he wanted was to talk about apes.

During a recent appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, George Lucas addressed criticism regarding the lack of diversity in his iconic Star Wars films. Facing accusations that the saga prominently features white male characters, Lucas argued that this misses the deeper message embedded in the series. Most of the people are aliens! The idea is you’re supposed to accept people for what they are, whether they’re big and furry or whether they’re green or whatever. The idea is all people are equal, said Lucas. This perspective underscores his belief that the galaxy far, far away intended to showcase acceptance and...

There’s a reason why Tom Selleck refers to the original Magnum, P.I. television series as just “Magnum” — and it has nothing to do with it being simple shorthand.
Selleck’s 352-page memoir, You Never Know, was released earlier this month (days after the 36th anniversary of Magnum, P.I.’s series finale), and when rummaging for something to read outdoors on a lazy Memorial Day Weekend afternoon, I remembered that I had been floated an advanced copy. Before I knew it, I had plowed through the entire back half of the book, which covers the shooting of the Magnum pilot,...

Created by George Lucas, the Star Wars franchise is one of the most epic sagas ever told. From the fall of Anakin Skywalker to Luke Skywalker’s eventual defeat of the Emperor, it is a classic tale of good vs evil. As a result, it is obvious that the saga required a compelling antagonist and the Sith Lord Palpatine might just be one of the best villains in the franchise.

Actress Carrie Fisher became a global icon when she played Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars. The actress was twenty-one when the film was released and it immediately launched her into worldwide fame as the film became a phenomenon. Princess Leia was considered to be one of the best female characters in sci-fi.
Fisher was reportedly cast in the role of Leia after George Lucas considered multiple actresses. The late star was only one-film-old at the time and had only been in a couple of stage shows. According to an old interview with Fisher from 1977, Lucas chose her because she fulfilled one particular quality of the character that he had written.

George Lucas’ epic Star Wars franchise took the world by storm for its creator’s genius in visualizing an unforgettable sci-fi fantasy world. The prequels and sequels that covered decades of cinema saw stars like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill go down in history as evergreen Hollywood actors.

While it is common knowledge that the films required a high level of technical expertise and research to bring to life, certain scenes proved to be extremely challenging for members of the cast. Fisher in particular, recalled a seriously cringeworthy segment with the huge alien Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi, for which she got her revenge later.

Legendary actor James Caan was known for his role as Sonny Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather. The actor received an Academy Award nomination for his role as Don’s eldest son and was often regarded as one of the greatest actors of the generation. Caan also starred in films such as Misery, The Gambler, and Elf.
Caan has also turned down many noted roles that turned out to be game-changers for the actors who ended up playing them. Among films such as The French Connection and Apocalypse Now, Caan was rumored to be offered the role of Han Solo in Star Wars. Legendary Star Wars creator George Lucas spoke at the Cannes Film Festival ahead of receiving the honorary Palme d’Or later today, and the retired filmmaker shared his thoughts on how the iconic franchise has been performing under the Disney banner since he sold the rights to the franchise over a decade ago.
While a lot of fans have been critical of the new movies and Disney+ shows overseen by Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy, Lucas believes the projects have “a lot of talent, great ideas and production,” although it sounds like he does miss being more directly involved in the creative process.
“I feel like they come from my children, and sometimes it hurts a little when they grow up and get away from you,” he tells elpais.com.

In today’s day and age, there are multiple franchises that have won the hearts of many to create fandoms of their own. While some of the positions in this respective list have been retained by superhero sagas like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe, perhaps none comes as close to celebrating almost a half-century of its existence as the Star Wars lore.

George Lucas doesn’t think the nearly all-white casting of his Star Wars films is problematic. The 80-year-old director, who wrote and directed the iconic 1977 fantasy-adventure himself, handed over directorial duties for the ensuing original trilogy to other filmmakers. He returned to direct three prequel entries beginning in 1999, which received mixed reviews. Despite this, Lucas‘ films have garnered intergenerational fandom. At the Cannes Film Festival, he addressed critics who have highlighted the lack of racial diversity in both trilogies and spoke candidly about his feelings toward the post-Disney films. Update: Sean Baker’s New York-set romantic dramedy Anora has scooped the Cannes Film Festival’s top prize, the Palme d’Or. This marked Baker’s second time in the competition after 2021’s Red Rocket, and tonight’s win amounted to the realization of what Baker said has been his “singular goal as a filmmaker for the past 30 years.”
Anora stars Mikey Madison as a stripper from Brooklyn who transforms into a modern Cinderella when she meets the son of a Russian oligarch. Complications arise when his parents find out and try to get the marriage annulled.

George Lucas has a very pointed message for “Star Wars” haters who mocked the franchise prequels and cancelled Jar Jar Binks: the movies aren’t for you.
“It was supposed to be a kid’s movie for 12-year-olds that were going through puberty, who don’t know what they’re doing, and are asking all the big questions: What should I be worried about? What’s important in life?,” Lucas said at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday, where he received an honorary Palme d’Or.
“And ‘Star Wars’ has all those things in there. They’re buried in there but you definitely get it, especially if you’re young,” he continued.
Of the ire that the character of Jar Jar Binks drew when he was introduced in “The Phantom Menace,” Lucas explained, “Everybody said the same thing about 3-po, that he was irritating and we should get rid of him.

"In space, no one can hear you scream." Few cinematic taglines have managed to become as immediately identifiable as this one. While it needs no introduction, the tagline was attached to director Ridley Scott's seminal 1979 classic, "Alien." Regardless of genre, it is one of the most highly regarded and influential films ever made. It was also, not for nothing, a huge hit in its day, only to become an even bigger hit as the years have rolled on. Put plainly, it's one of the most important box office success stories in history.

Since its inception in 1977 by creator George Lucas, the Star Wars universe has invited some of Hollywood’s biggest names to participate in telling stories from a galaxy far, far away. On that note, imagine having the chance to star in one of the most iconic film sagas of all time, only to walk away with an unpleasant memory that seemed like it’d never fade.
Can an experience alongside a cinematic legend like Lucas ever be, dare we say, “boring”? Well, for Terence Stamp, acclaimed for his chilling portrayal of the villainous General Zod in Richard Donner’s Superman, a discouraging stint on the set of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace left an indelible mark.

Filmmaker George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise has been one of the most popular works of fiction of all time. The space opera franchise features several unique, interesting, and borderline crazy ideas that have kept the fans of the galaxy far, far away on the edge of their seats for well over four decades.

Despite his penchant for executing risky ideas, one idea from Lucas almost proved too crazy and near impossible to work. While developing The Clone Wars animated series alongside Dave Filoni, Lucas instructed the former to revive one character who had met his definitive end in a previous installment. Here is what Lucas said to Filoni and why the idea should have never worked.

Sean Baker’s “Anora” has won the Palme d’Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, a jury headed by Greta Gerwig announced on Saturday.
The win for Baker’s freewheeling film about a stripper and the son of a Russian oligarch becomes the fifth consecutive Palme winner to be distributed by Neon, which previously handled “Anatomy of a Fall,” “The Triangle of Sadness,” “Titane” and “Parasite.”
TheWrap’s review said of the film, “It’s one of the most entertaining movies to play in Cannes this year, and also one of the most confounding: part character study of the title character (Mikey Madison), a sex worker from Brighton Beach who falls for rich Russian playboy Ivan (Mark Eydelshteyn); part look into the world of the super-rich, an arena Baker has studiously avoided in films like ‘Tangerine,’ ‘The Florida Project’ and ‘Red Rocket’; part escalating nightmare comedy reminiscent of ’80s gems...

Cannes — Nine years after being named one of Variety’s Directors to Watch, Sean Baker won the Palme d’Or for “Anora,” a rowdy whirlwind romance between an exotic dancer (Mikey Madison) and the obscenely rich son of a Russian oligarch (played by Mark Eydelshteyn). Baker is the first American filmmaker to cinch the festival’s top prize since Terrence Malick earned the Palme for “The Tree of Life” in 2011.
“Anora” is Baker’s third film to debut at Cannes, following “The Florida Project” and “Red Rocket.” He accepted the award from two-time Palme d’Or winner Francis Ford Coppola, whose “Megalopolis” went home empty-handed. Coppola also presented an honorary Palme d’Or to his friend and fellow legend George Lucas, whom he called his “own kid brother.”
Baker dedicated the award to “all sex workers, past, present and future,” underscoring the importance of “making films intended for theatrical exhibition.

When George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012 for more than $4 billion, it marked a major turning point in the movie industry. But, as Lucas himself says, some game-changing transitions within the business were already in full swing.
In an interview with Brut (via Screen Rant), George Lucas said that selling Lucasfilm all came down to the rise of streaming. “Streaming is really powerful, and it’s great, it’s really upped the movie business because the theatrical movie business… we could see the problems, and it was not good. So everybody was looking to save it, but nobody knew streaming would. And that’s when Netflix took off, and at that point, I said, ‘I don’t know what this is gonna be, there’s gonna be a giant transition in the business, I don’t know that much about it,’ and I sold the company, and I retired.

The reception of the prequel Star Wars trilogy has been widely debated, with opinions evolving over time. Despite facing significant criticism initially, the trilogy has seen a reappraisal in recent years.
A nostalgic appreciation has emerged among fans who grew up with the prequels. Furthermore, elements like their intricate political narratives and world-building have garnered retrospective praise.
At the Cannes Film Festival, George Lucas directly addressed critics, asserting that the prequel movies were not inherently flawed. He argued that the negative reception stemmed from a shift in audience preferences, particularly among those who were children when they first encountered the original films. As adults, their tastes had changed, and they were no longer interested in films geared toward younger audiences, leading to their disappointment with the prequels.

Artificial Intelligence or AI is a crucial piece of technology at humanity’s disposal. From education to science, AI can revolutionize processes and change the very landscape of such industries. However, when it comes to the entertainment industry, it is as detrimental as it is beneficial. Artists around the world have been protesting against its use and the use of AI was part of the negotiations during the historic SAG-AFTRA strikes last year.

There is little to no doubt that George Lucas is a legendary name in the film business. As the proponent of the epic Star Wars franchise, the now 80-year-old gave the world one of the most famous fantasy series of all time. The director of the original movie, and executive producer of the two sequels, Lucas returned to direct the prequel trilogy series as well, from 1995-2005.
While the series in itself is generally considered flawless, there is one major element of the six movies that have been criticized, time and again. This is the fact that all the human characters in the movie only featured white actors, suggesting that black people simply do not exist in the space saga.

While such a move would have been a huge problem in today’s climate, George Lucas recently went into detail about this aspect of the series.

George Lucas, who is being celebrated for his contribution to cinema, including his iconic films like “Indiana Jones” and “Star Wars,” received a Palme d’Or at the 77th Cannes Festival.
During interviews, Lucas had a lot to say about “Star Wars.” From how he got to keep merchandising rights to his prequel films and then to how Disney has been handling the “Star Wars” IP after he sold it to them.
When it comes to Disney, Lucas said he doesn’t think they understand what “Star Wars” and The Force are:
“I was the one who really knew what Star Wars was … who actually knew this world, because there’s a lot to it. The Force, for example, nobody understood the Force. When they started other ones after I sold the company, a lot of the ideas that were in [the original] sort of got lost. But that’s the way it is.

Disney and Star Wars have gained a reputation for being “woke,” but even before woke critics, some fans observed a notable lack of diversity in the first six movies.
At the Cannes Film Festival, George Lucas addressed criticism of the initial “Star Wars” films, including concerns regarding race and the predominantly male cast in the Galaxy far, far away.
