- DirectorTatsuya NagamineStarsMasako NozawaAya HisakawaRyô HorikawaGoku and Vegeta encounter Broly, a Saiyan warrior unlike any fighter they've faced before.I liked this more than I expected. I'm not a DBZ super fan, but this movie was hard not to love. Packed with humor, action, and even emotion, this was one entertaining anime film.
1/2/21 - DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaOscar IsaacAs a new threat to the galaxy rises, Rey, a desert scavenger, and Finn, an ex-stormtrooper, must join Han Solo and Chewbacca to search for the one hope of restoring peace.Well - I think it's about time I reviewed this movie properly. I'm going to right a full-written review, but let's just say every time I watch this movie I want to love it, and always leave underwhelmed. Today was no exception.
1/3/21 - DirectorRian JohnsonStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaMark HamillRey develops her abilities with the help of Luke Skywalker, as the Resistance prepares for battle against the First Order.I'm starting 2021 by rewatching the new Star Wars trilogy, and "The Last Jedi" continues to be my favorite of the three films. It is very small-scale compared to the previous film, but the characterization of Rey and Kylo absolutely enhance this movie - if you enjoy watching their characterization deepened, you'll like this film. Plus, the action is insanely well directed and gorgeously choreographed. One of my only negatives is the fact that the movie ends with a sort of finality that makes it hard to sense where the story will go... even though we all know where it went now!
1/4/21 - DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaOscar IsaacThe surviving Resistance faces the First Order once again in the conclusion of the Skywalker saga.I actually enjoyed this movie. Because it's the 3rd film in the trilogy, you're already connected to the characters, especially Rey and Kylo Ren, and really want to see how their arcs end. The character interactions between Poe, Finn, and Rey are great, and the film has entertaining action throughout. Listen, it's a simple, fun science fiction adventure that I will definitely pop in when I want to turn my brain off and relax.
1/6/21 - DirectorGareth EdwardsStarsFelicity JonesDiego LunaAlan TudykIn a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction.I thought this movie was okay. It has a really boring first half and an explosive second half, but the second half isn't that enjoyable because the characters are not well fleshed out. It's enjoyable enough, but I'd rather watch The Last Jedi or Rise of Skywalker.
1/7/21 - DirectorPaul W.S. AndersonStarsMilla JovovichTony JaaRon PerlmanWhen Cpt. Artemis and her loyal soldiers are transported to a new world, they engage in a desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers. Feature film based on the video game by Capcom.I though this movie was pretty boring. There's hardly any action, and when there is action, it's portrayed at night so it's difficult to see what's happening. The special effects are fine, but I wish the movie had better action in it, and more clearly shown action.
1/8/21 - DirectorGeorge LucasStarsEwan McGregorLiam NeesonNatalie PortmanTwo Jedi escape a hostile blockade to find allies and come across a young boy who may bring balance to the Force, but the long dormant Sith resurface to claim their original glory.BLAH. Boring, bad plot, bad acting, bad action. I don't hate this movie, but I'll never willingly watch it again - there's no point. The only thing I love is the end fight with Maul, other than that nothing makes me want to watch this movie again.
1/9/21 - DirectorPatty JenkinsStarsGal GadotChris PineKristen WiigDiana must contend with a colleague, and with a businessman whose desire for extreme wealth sends the world down a path of destruction, after an ancient artifact that grants wishes goes missing.I thought this movie was so much fun! It's romantic, and basically a character study, and I really loved all of the characters in this movie. This is a throwback to 80s action movies, and the campiness really worked for me. This isn't an action film, and the action is honestly the worst part of this movie. I loved everything else though, and couldn't get enough of the chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. This is definitely one of my favorite DC movies, for sure.
1/9/21 - DirectorDuncan JonesStarsTravis FimmelPaula PattonBen FosterAs an Orc horde invades the planet Azeroth using a magic portal, a few human heroes and dissenting Orcs must attempt to stop the true evil behind this war.The special effects are good, the action is good, but the movie overall is boring. The movie is, surprisingly, too short, not giving us enough to breathe to really get enthralled in the world. But even so, the movie just feels way too slow - there's barely any action, and most scenes are filled with exposition that I did not care about. Maybe I'll give this another shot one day, but for a one time watch, I did not enjoy this.
1/10/21 - DirectorGreta GerwigStarsSaoirse RonanLaurie MetcalfTracy LettsIn 2002, an artistically inclined 17-year-old girl comes of age in Sacramento, California.I love Ms. Ronan, so I was looking forward to this, but I just thought it was okay. I found it pretty mean spirited, filled with unlikeable characters, and overall that made it unable to resonate with me. The acting was great, and there were moments I liked, but overall I didn't enjoy this too much.
1/10/21 - DirectorOz PerkinsStarsEmma RobertsKiernan ShipkaLucy BoyntonTwo girls must battle a mysterious evil force when they get left behind at their boarding school over winter break.I LOVED this movie so much *swoon*. It has gorgeous actresses, but more than that, it's just such a visually gorgeous movie, filled with stunning cinematography coupled with a fantastic soundtrack. I liked how restrained this movie is, I liked the intriguing story, and I just enjoyed watching this from beginning to end.
1/11/21 - DirectorAdam MacDonaldStarsLaurie HoldenNicole MuñozChloe RoseA frustrated, angst-ridden teenage girl awakens something in the woods when she naively performs an occult ritual to evoke a witch to kill her mother.I liked this movie. I took me awhile to get into it, but once it gets going, it's creepy and enthralling, filled with great psychological horror. I also really enjoyed all of the performances - everyone felt grounded, and I liked how seriously it took the subject matter. Good horror film!
1/12/21 - DirectorMalgorzata SzumowskaStarsRaffey CassidyMichiel HuismanDenise GoughA girl born into an all-female cult led by a man in their compound begins to question his teachings and her own reality.Horrifically dull and boring. The movie looks good, but the plot is nonexistent. Half the film is characters walking from one location to the next. It's so boring. I don't even want to write anymore, I just didn't like this film whatsoever. Pretentious and self-indulgent.
1/13/21 - DirectorRobert LorenzStarsKatheryn WinnickLiam NeesonTeresa RuizA rancher on the Arizona border becomes the unlikely defender of a young Mexican boy desperately fleeing the cartel assassins who've pursued him into the U.S.Unfortunately, a pretty boring movie. Little action, uninteresting dialogue, not much that really moves this movie forward. Yeah, I like Liam Neeson, but I wasn't a fan of this one.
1/15/21 - DirectorEmerald FennellStarsCarey MulliganBo BurnhamAlison BrieNothing in Cassie's life is what it appears to be - she's wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she's living a secret double life. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs from the past.Absolutely LOVED this film. This is a thriller in the truest sense of the word. From beginning to end I was on the edge of my seat, white-knuckled. This is full of suspense, but also the movie boasts a great soundtrack and a unique visual look, full of bright colors and vibrant pastels. The plot instantly hooks you, and the story beats do a great job of revealing important info without seeming like exposition or shock for shocks sake. This is a great film and I highly recommend it, and will be buying it on Blu-Ray for sure.
01/16/21 - DirectorSidney LumetStarsAl PacinoJohn CazalePenelope AllenThree amateur bank robbers plan to hold up a bank. A nice simple robbery: Walk in, take the money, and run. Unfortunately, the supposedly uncomplicated heist suddenly becomes a bizarre nightmare as everything that could go wrong does.A masterful thriller. Filled with fantastic acting, an unpredictable plot, and a great undercurrent of dark comedy, this movie was riveting from beginning to end. Highly recommend.
01/17/21 - DirectorThomas VinterbergStarsMads MikkelsenThomas Bo LarsenMagnus MillangFour high-school teachers consume alcohol on a daily basis to see how it affects their social and professional lives. This movie was very interesting - I love Mads Mikkelsen, and he spurred my curiosity to watch this. The movie doesn't seem to have a clear message, instead allowing individual viewer interpretation, which I appreciate. I overall enjoyed this film a lot, appreciating the journey it took, the character moments, and the drama.
01/18/21 - DirectorJez ButterworthStarsNicole KidmanVincent CasselBen ChaplinA thirtysomething bank clerk from St Albans has his small-town life exploded by the arrival of his Russian mail-order bride.Ehh, this was okay. Tonally, it was inconsistent, jumping from comedy to BDSM romance to crime thriller - and I enjoyed it more when it was a BDSM romance. When the drama starts, the movie really slows down and becomes just a slog to get to the end. Nicole Kidman was gorgeous and great as always, and legitimately seemed like she was a Russian, however every other actor didn't have much to do. Even though I liked the first 30 minutes, I'll probably never watch this again.

Overall, I liked watching this episode because of its unapologetically awful characters, and because of how gorgeous NWR makes his pieces look and sound. Some interesting plot points were introduced, and there were one or two legitimately thrilling scenes. I was never bored with its slow pace, but I understand that the majority of viewers will. Overall, I liked this, and I look forward to seeing how it continues.

I really liked the focus on the Mexican cartel in this episode, and specifically focusing on the killer from episode 1. This was a very slow but hypnotic episode, giving us a look at beautiful Mexican vistas, of course, slowly giving way to violence as the episode goes on. Really great stuff here.

Picked up the pace and focused on Miles Teller again, giving us a look at what happens when a killer for hire finds someone else who does the same thing he does. Loved all the new characters and plotlines this show introduced, and I look forward to seeing how everything ties together.

This episode was fantastic, following Miles Teller as his character has a slight change of heart, deciding to want to kill people who he thinks has it coming to them. It's an interesting aspect of a character who previously had such a nonchalant attitude about killing. The show keeps getting more interesting.

This episode was excellent, suspenseful and uncomfortable from beginning to end. I was white-knuckled, and literally couldn't make myself get up from my seat. This has some fantastic action, but more than that, is just incredible exciting and tense - the situations so awkward that you almost want to stop watching. Loved episode five, and can't wait to continue.

Another episode focused on the Mexican cartel, specifically Jesus and his wife, Yaritza. I found this episode riveting. Again, it's less violent than other episodes, but you can feel its building, especially with Yaritza - she oozes violence. Also, this episode looked and sounded probably better than any other episode. Loved when Yaritza met Jayme - overall, great.

FANTASTIC. So intense, Miles Teller is especially fantastic in this scene, finally exploding in emotion when he decides, on a whim, to murder someone who starts mocking him. Also, definitely the most violent episode, especially the dreadful ending. Honestly, just a great episode when it comes to plot progression, character building, and story. Loved it.
