- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsJack NicholsonShelley DuvallDanny LloydA family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future. It's a film that you really need to be wide awake to watch, with no coffee or toilet breaks. Never look away from the screen, or you may miss something. Oh I just love little Danny "RED RUM!"
This is quite possibly my favourite horror ever and best Jack Nicholson film besides One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, The Witches of Eastwick and Batman lol - DirectorWilliam FriedkinStarsEllen BurstynMax von SydowLinda BlairWhen a young girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two Catholic priests to save her life. This film really messed with me, I can just hear the demons laugh as I type this. Sick and twisted and scares me every time. Linda Blair was just incredible!
It is the only film I've seen that's given me nightmares. - DirectorDavid CronenbergStarsJeff GoldblumGeena DavisJohn GetzA brilliant but eccentric scientist begins to transform into a giant man/fly hybrid after one of his experiments goes horribly wrong.Fantastic film, the transformation is pretty shocking, Jeff Goldblum is a legend!
- DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsAnthony PerkinsJanet LeighVera MilesA Phoenix secretary embezzles $40,000 from her employer's client, goes on the run and checks into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother. An old classic, defiantly worth a watch.
My favourite Hitchcock film (I am so excited to see Hitchcock, Antony Hopkins was a wise choice) unless you include Birds and Rear Window. - DirectorTobe HooperStarsJoBeth WilliamsHeather O'RourkeCraig T. NelsonA family's home is haunted by a host of demonic ghosts.Very weird film, but enjoyable.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsHeather LangenkampJohnny DeppRobert EnglundTeenager Nancy Thompson must uncover the dark truth concealed by her parents after she and her friends become targets of the spirit of a serial killer with a bladed glove in their dreams, in which if they die, it kills them in real life.Silly, cheesy but also bloody and with lots of suspense, you just can't wait till they fall asleep! Gold star for Johnny Depp
- DirectorChristophe GansStarsRadha MitchellLaurie HoldenSean BeanA woman, Rose, goes in search for her adopted daughter within the confines of a strange, desolate town called Silent Hill.Hardly scary, but it's weird and very psychological. Bonus point for Sean Bean. It's not bad for an adaptation of a video game.
- DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsNaomi WattsMartin HendersonBrian CoxA journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone one week to the day after they view it.Good film, I admire kids that are in films like this, the boy who played Aiden just nailed it!
- DirectorTakashi ShimizuStarsSarah Michelle GellarJason BehrClea DuVallAn American nurse living and working in Tokyo is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim. It's pretty good, it's probably the first film I watched on my own that contained horror, and the only Sarah M Geller film I like.
- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsDonald PleasenceJamie Lee CurtisTony MoranFifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.I just had to put it in... This was the first film I saw Jamie Lee Curtis in. It's not that scary at all really, still good though.
