- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.People give this third movie in the trilogy a pass because of it's pedigree and it's tear-jerker ending but it is clearly the weak link in the series. Not only was the sequel completely unnecessary, but it's portrayal of the "Latino" Buzz Lightyear is some of the most racist stuff seen in a cartoon since Song of the South.
All of the characters were interchangeable and the narrative momentum is dubious at best (they trying to get back home so they can rot in the closet of the departed Andy). And I'm still trying to figure out the message of the movie. Was it "get rid of your toys and grow up?"
This movie was so lame it actually lessened my enjoyment of the previous movies when I watch them now. That is the DEFINITION of a bad sequel. And the most overrated movie ever. - DirectorFrank DarabontStarsTim RobbinsMorgan FreemanBob GuntonOver the course of several years, two convicts form a friendship, seeking consolation and, eventually, redemption through basic compassion. This movie almost demands a new list: The most schmaltzy movie ever. Again, I think it gets a pass because of the ending, one of the happiest ending of all time. Yawn.
And it's the highest rated movie on IMDB, tied with the Godfather.
Proof positive that there is no God. - DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsTom HanksRobin WrightGary SiniseThe history of the United States from the 1950s to the '70s unfolds from the perspective of an Alabama man with an IQ of 75, who yearns to be reunited with his childhood sweetheart.Every time I see this I can't help but wonder what people were thinking in 1994. An absolutely ridiculous movie, and I mean that in a bad way. It treats its audience like a bunch of dunderheads. Terrible.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsTom HanksMatt DamonTom SizemoreFollowing the Normandy Landings, a group of U.S. soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action. Not to pick on Tom Hanks, but all I remember about this one was the brutal D-Day scene and then two hours of Chinese water torture. Why do people revere this one so much?
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleTom HardyAnne HathawayEight years after the Joker's reign of chaos, Batman is coerced out of exile with the assistance of the mysterious Selina Kyle in order to defend Gotham City from the vicious guerrilla terrorist Bane. They didn't have Heath Ledger to bail them out this time.
Where art thou, Michael Keaton.
Also, the twist sucked. - DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansScarlett JohanssonEarth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.Upon first viewing I had no idea how I felt about this one.
Second viewing revealed it to be completely inert, vacuous and BORING.
One of the least fun film experiences of the last 5 years.
Every movie with Robert Downey Jr. in it essentially winds him up like a toy and then turns the camera on. It started getting old in Iron Man 2.
Also...maybe the worst film score of any big budget blockbuster EVER. - DirectorAndrew StantonStarsBen BurttElissa KnightJeff GarlinIn the distant future, a small waste-collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind. This is two movies: a good one for 20-minutes and then bad for the rest.
It was clumsy and pointless. Clear evidence that Pixar was slipping (since established). - DirectorDavid FincherStarsBrad PittEdward NortonMeat LoafAn insomniac office worker and a devil-may-care soap maker form an underground fight club that evolves into much more.Back when every movie had to have a twist.
It was also violence masquerading as a message.
Just an unpleasant experience. People say that nobody has the guts to make a movie like this now. I say thank goodness for that. - DirectorMichel GondryStarsJim CarreyKate WinsletTom WilkinsonWhen their relationship turns sour, a couple undergoes a medical procedure to have each other erased from their memories forever.I saw it, then promptly forgot it.
But then every few months somebody exclaims that it is their favorite movie ever.
Does not reflect well on those people. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.Christopher Nolan is practically on record as saying he made this movie so he could shoot a James Bond like show scene. Which he did.
It had some neat visuals, but the movie itself does not add up to much. The more I see it, the worse it gets.
If I get around to a most overrated directors list, I think Nolan will be near the top. - DirectorRian JohnsonStarsJoseph Gordon-LevittBruce WillisEmily BluntIn 2074, when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent into the past, where a hired gun awaits - someone like Joe - who one day learns the mob wants to 'close the loop' by sending back Joe's future self for assassination. What if they remade Back to the Future but Michael J. Fox's character is instead boring and a hitman?
And just for the heck of it, let's ask Bruce Willis if he wants to be in it.
Terrible. - DirectorRobert AltmanStarsTim RobbinsGreta ScacchiFred WardA Hollywood studio executive is being sent death threats by a writer whose script he rejected, but which one?I saw this movie when it came out and I remember not caring.
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsKevin SpaceyGabriel ByrneChazz PalminteriThe sole survivor of a pier shoot-out tells the story of how a notorious criminal influenced the events that began with five criminals meeting in a seemingly random police lineup. One of those movies that is a big deal until you see it and then you're left wondering why it is a big deal.
- DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsZach GalifianakisBradley CooperJustin BarthaThree buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas, with no memory of the previous night and the bachelor missing. They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding.I hate to sound cliché, but all of the good scenes were in the trailer.
People don't realize how iron clad the structure of this movie is. Given that, why wasn't it better?
So many scenes that were funny on paper just died on screen. Getting tased in itself is not funny. The actors need to make it so.
Also, Zach Galifianakis. Why did they hook this movie to his wagon?
Role Models, which came out around the same time, was vastly superior. A shame it didn't do better.
