- DirectorAng LeeStarsSuraj SharmaIrrfan KhanAdil HussainA young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger.Watched 03/01/14
Really really good, stuck to the book a decent amount, lived up to my expectations. Same issues with this as I had with the book, the first part drags a fair bit, spends a lot of time focussing on the religious aspects and not the training of the animals. Special FX were obviously amazing, really helped the entire movie. - DirectorLaurence ConnorStarsTim MinchinMelanie CChris MoylesCelebrating 40 years since it first opened in London's West End, Andrew Lloyd Webber's new production of Jesus Christ Superstar.Watched 07/01/14
Such a good cast, shame about the really dodgy 'enhancing' of the vocals in places. As a show, not the best I've ever seen, but good modern take on the whole event. - DirectorBryan BertinoStarsScott SpeedmanLiv TylerGemma WardA young couple staying in an isolated vacation home are terrorized by three unknown assailants.
- DirectorSeth GordonStarsJason BatemanCharlie DayJason SudeikisThree friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness.
- DirectorJonathan DaytonValerie FarisStarsPaul DanoZoe KazanAnnette BeningA novelist struggling with writer's block finds romance in a most unusual way: by creating a female character he thinks will love him, then willing her into existence.Watched 16/02/14
Really good and cute, aesthetically really nice as well. Not sure how I feel about the "I don't need a solution" ending, feels like a bit of a cheats way out. Also the whole thing with his mum being weird felt like it was going somewhere and it never did, bit pointless in the end. - DirectorSeth GordonStarsJason BatemanMelissa McCarthyJohn ChoMild mannered businessman Sandy Patterson travels from Denver to Florida to confront the deceptively harmless looking woman who has been living it up after stealing Sandy's identity.Watched 19/02/14
Averagely funny, good cast made it more than it was. Reasonably predictable plot. - DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsRoy ScheiderRobert ShawRichard DreyfussWhen a killer shark unleashes chaos on a beach community off Cape Cod, it's up to a local sheriff, a marine biologist, and an old seafarer to hunt the beast down.Watched 23/03/14
Overrated, unnecessarily long. Can see why its such a classic, mise en scene is really good etc but its just too implausible to take seriously, not even the shark itself but everything, like people not leaving the water when it comes and teasing it... The ending was good though, especially for the time with all the shark stuff. But why was the shark there in the first place? Just generally not sold on the whole film.. - DirectorJohn KrokidasStarsDaniel RadcliffeDane DeHaanMichael C. HallA murder in 1944 draws together the great poets of the beat generation: Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs.Watched 24/03/14
Struggled to engage with a few of the characters but a really good and in-depth story all in all. Lu's whole story was so good, and loved how it started with the beginning. Cinematography was lovely as well. - DirectorFredrik BondStarsShia LaBeoufEvan Rachel WoodMads MikkelsenWhile travelling abroad, a guy falls for a Romanian beauty whose unreachable heart has its origins in her violent, charismatic ex.Watched 28/03/14
Really nice story, really good cast. Felt like maybe it was going down a more supernatural/he can see ghosts route at multiple points, but still good without a twist. - DirectorBaz LuhrmannStarsLeonardo DiCaprioCarey MulliganJoel EdgertonA writer and wall street trader, Nick Carraway, finds himself drawn to the past and lifestyle of his mysterious millionaire neighbor, Jay Gatsby, amid the riotous parties of the Jazz Age.Watched 09/04/14
What was the significance of Jordan?
Also, I didn't understand Daisy's husbands problem with her when he'd been having an affair the whole time. It was really slow, but the last 3rd was better than the whole thing overall. Not really sure how we were supposed to think of Gatsby in the end? - DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsChris EvansSamuel L. JacksonScarlett JohanssonAs Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he teams up with a fellow Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D agent, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier.** Watched 11/04/14
Really good, not slow either which is rare with Marvel movies.
Liked the stuff between Cap and Black Widow, and the guy he meets is a great addition. Also loved the appearance of Danny Pudi, what a highlight. - DirectorMichel GondryStarsJim CarreyKate WinsletTom WilkinsonWhen their relationship turns sour, a couple undergoes a medical procedure to have each other erased from their memories forever.Watched 11/04/14
Struggled a lot for concentration for the first portion as it was confusing as to what was going on. Didn't really understand the significance of Mark Ruffalo's character. But it all came together in the end making for a really nice story, I liked the gradual build up to realising that them 'meeting' we see at the start is actually once they've met before. - DirectorDavid AyerStarsJake GyllenhaalMichael PeñaAnna KendrickShot documentary-style, this film follows the daily grind of two young police officers in LA who are partners and friends and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves.Watched 12/04/14
Really good, really well paced and funny, sad etc in all the right places. The casting was really good. Really liked the whole filming everything aspect, although I did think their footage would end up being used somehow in some way. - DirectorMarc WebbStarsAndrew GarfieldEmma StoneJamie FoxxWhen New York is put under siege by Oscorp, it is up to Spider-Man to save the city he swore to protect as well as his loved ones.** Watched 23/04/14
Cast amazing, stunning special effects, emotional in all the right places, amazing outlook for the future film(s), so action packed and fast-paced. - DirectorJon S. BairdStarsJames McAvoyJamie BellEddie MarsanA corrupt, junkie cop with bipolar disorder attempts to manipulate his way through a promotion in order to win back his wife and daughter while also fighting his own inner demons.Watched 02/05/14
Decent cast, creepy in all the right places. Not entirely sure if he ever had a wife or kid in the end.. And who was the burned person near the start? So many unanswered questions... Engaging consistently throughout however, and just the right length. - DirectorJoseph Gordon-LevittStarsJoseph Gordon-LevittScarlett JohanssonJulianne MooreA New Jersey guy dedicated to his family, friends, and church, develops unrealistic expectations from watching porn and works to find happiness and intimacy with his potential true love.Watched 02/05/14
Didn't seem to have any deeper meaning other than JG-L obviously wanks a lot... Scarlett Johanson's character was a massive bitch which was a nice plot twist kind of thing when she turned out not to be his dram girl. Other woman seemed a bit too old though? - DirectorBen StillerStarsBen StillerKristen WiigJon DalyWhen both he and a colleague are about to lose their job, Walter takes action by embarking on an adventure more extraordinary than anything he ever imagined.Watched 03/05/14
Fairly predictable, the end I thought would prove to have a deeper meaning. Whole thing was just too far fetched to end up being real in the end... Nice looking movie though with nice varied locations. The skateboarding stuff was a nice touch. - DirectorNicholas StollerStarsSeth RogenRose ByrneZac EfronAfter they are forced to live next to a fraternity house, a couple with a newborn baby do whatever they can to take them down.** Watched 30/05/14
Really consistently funny, amazing casting and really good cameos. Just the right amount of seriousness mixed in, and no low points or time-filling. Nice ending too, very 'happily ever after' but done in the right way. The baby was too bloody adorable as well, cute. - DirectorPhil LordChristopher MillerStarsChanning TatumJonah HillIce CubeAfter making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college.** Watched 11/06/14
Liked how it took the piss out of being a sequel and having a bigger budget etc, those were the funniest parts. - DirectorPhil LordChristopher MillerStarsChris PrattWill FerrellElizabeth BanksAn ordinary LEGO construction worker, thought to be the prophesied as "special", is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the LEGO universe into eternal stasis.Watched 04/07/14

Forced at times but genuinely funny, nice cast, work on camera well together. Nice story and message even if a little cliched. - DirectorJosh BooneStarsShailene WoodleyAnsel ElgortNat WolffHazel and Gus are teenagers who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love.
