- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsMeryl StreepBruce WillisGoldie HawnWhen a fading actress learns of an immortality treatment, she sees it as a way to outdo her long-time rival.I saw it first in its Director's cut at a preview in Phoenix Arizona. I was blown away by how funny and how smart. It was also poetic. Something that is nowhere to be found in the studio release. In the original there is Tracey Ullman giving the story a much needed balance. In the released version. All the women are monsters. In the director's cut there is also an increddible poignant ending, very superior to the grotesque ending we ended up with. I keep talking about it because, I hope, some day, Universal will release the director's cut in blue ray with lots of specia features.
- DirectorAdrian LyneStarsMichael DouglasGlenn CloseAnne ArcherA married man's one-night stand comes back to haunt him when that lover begins to stalk him and his family.I saw the orinial director's cut at a sneak preview in Los Angeles.
So much more chilling. In that cut there is nothing of that absurd show down at the end but Glenn Close kills herself "framing" Michael Douglas.
I won't tell you more than that. But believe me, it was a more powerful, realistic film. - DirectorJohn SchlesingerStarsIsabella RosselliniAnthony HopkinsCampbell ScottA British telecommunication expert comes to 1950s Berlin to help the Americans spy on the USSR. He meets a cute, mysterious local woman.I saw a preview in Los Angeles and the movie that was released was a pale version of the film I had seen. The characters and therefore the performances suffered greatly in the inexplicable botched version that was released. In the director's cut I saw, Isabella Rossellini and Campbell Scott would have been nominated for Oscars
