Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is on the way. A recent blog post from author, series co-creator, and executive producer Rick Riordan reveals that they aim to have started filming Season 2 by this fall, and there are more production updates where that came from. Percy Jackson and the Olympians stars Walker Scobell as the titular demigod, the pre-teen son of human Sally Jackson (Virginia Kull) and Olympian god Poseidon (Toby Stephens). When Percy learns of his mythical abilities, he’s sent to Camp Half-Blood for protection with the help of his best friend/satyr protector, Grover (Aryan Simhadri). It’s at this training ground and demigod safe haven that Percy learns his favorite teacher, Mr. Brunner (Glynn Turman), is actually a centaur named Chiron, trainer of demigods. When Percy is accused of stealing his Uncle Zeus’ (the late Lance Reddick) master bolt, Percy embarks on a quest across the country to prove his innocence.

In a couple of months, it will be a year since we lost the late, great Lance Reddick. His passing was a shock as it came so suddenly, and at a time where he had incredible works on the horizon. We haven’t even seen the last of his work as he’s due to make a cameo appearance as his John Wick character, Charon, in the spin-off Ballerina. He can recently be seen in the Disney+ show, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, where he fittingly portrays the Greek God, Zeus. Reddick would finish filming the first season just before his untimely passing.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians would finally premiere on Disney+, and the season finale featured an epic conflict with Zeus on the top of Mount Olympus. Deadline reports that the show would pay tribute to the late actor by closing out with a title card that read,...

There’s a moment in Titus Kaphar’s “Exhibiting Forgiveness” that speaks volumes about how trauma — racial, historical, personal — can destroy a person, even as the scene barely offers an explicit word about it. Tarrell (André Holland), an artist who paints dreamy neon-rainbow-hued suburban fantasias, has reconnected with La’Ron (John Earl Jelks), the estranged father he hasn’t seen in 15 years. La’Ron, now gray and grizzled and homeless, is a recovering addict who was rarely around and, when he was, treated his son with a ruthless indifference that edged into violence. Tarrell still wants nothing to do with him, but he’s decided to interview La’Ron on camera to figure out what it was that made his father such an abusive lout.
He asks La’Ron about the first time he ever smoked crack. La’Ron tells the story, and on the surface there isn’t much...

In the world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, prophecies are a big deal. The oracle who resides at Camp Half-Blood doesn’t just give them out willy nilly, they are given to those that fate has deemed worthy. For the demigods of Camp Half-Blood, a prophecy typically signals the beginning of a quest, and the chance to prove oneself in the eyes of their deified parent.
Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) receives his first prophecy not long after he first arrives at Camp Half-Blood. He, Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) are tasked with retrieving Zeus’ missing lightning bolt before the Summer Solstice and stopping an impending war between the gods. Before they set off, Percy receives valuable insight from the Oracle, though it’s not clear what parts of the prophecy mean.

Glynn Turman is really on horseback in Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+. As an expert horseman in real life, the actor tells TV Insider he was truly “in his element” in this role. Turman plays Mr. Brunner, who Percy (Walker Scobell) believes to be his teacher at Yancy Academy before the truth about the world of Greek gods and goddesses and their demigod children at Camp Half-Blood were revealed. Now, Percy knows Mr. Brunner for who he really is: the centaur Chiron, camp activities director and trainer of demigods. As Chiron, Turman walks through the Camp Half-Blood grounds (filmed in Vancouver) on horseback. Few actors were as prepared to film on horseback as Turman. He’s been an avid horseman for decades for leisure and for work. He and his wife, Jo-Ann Allen, run a summer camp of their down that’s dedicated to teaching children and teens how to ride horses,...

A storm is brewing, and this one could usher in the end of times.
Disney+ has released a new trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and there's a good chance it will be the streaming service's best series this year.
With the Marvel Cinematic Universe imploding on both the big screen and on streaming, and the tepid response to The Mandalorian Season 3, Disney+ is betting on Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
In the past, Disney+ hasn't put its marketing muscle behind projects outside the MCU and Star Wars universe.
If the series manages to break through, it will probably urge the streaming service to take more significant risks.
Adapting Rick Riordan's bestselling book series for the small screen already looks to be paying off.
While the two big-screen adaptations were criticized, everything we see for Percy Jackson and the Olympians looks like a natural next step for the franchise.

The Mist has finally lifted from the full “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” trailer!
The young demigod gazes at a statue of his Greek namesake Perseus at the beginning of the clip. His mother Sally Jackson (Virginia Kull) explains that she named him Perseus, not after the hero, but after the demigod who was brave and kind and against all odds, he managed to find his way to a happy ending.”
Sharp violin notes pick up the pace as Nancy Bobofit (Olivea Morton) throws a sandwich at teenage Percy (Walker Scobell) and his best friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri).
“I’m used to the world feeling weird to me like a puzzle with half the wrong pieces, but lately, it all feels different somehow,” Scobell says.
Flash forward to Scobell’s older Jackson taking a museum field trip to a similar sculpture exhibit when he is approached by Mr.Brunner (Glynn Turman...

It’s no secret that Rick Riordan, who wrote the Percy Jackson book series and executive-produces the upcoming Disney+ live-action series, took major issue with the 2010 film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and its sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
In his notes to movie producers in 2009, he called the Lightning Thief script “terrible” as a whole and maligned the age-inappropriate swearing as a “lazy attempt to make the script seem hip to teens.” Responding to a fan in 2020 who said he hated the films more than they did, Riordan shared that it was “my life’s...

Now might be the perfect time to re-read Rick Riordan’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” books before the adaptation arrives on Disney+ at the end of the year. For this show, only the main foundation series (and maybe just the first book) are required reading before Camp Halfblood comes to life on the small screen.
The first two episodes of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” arrive December 20 on the streamer, followed one new episode per week. Christmas will be to “Percy Jackson” fans as Thanksgiving will be to “Hunger Games” fans, with “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” film adaptation arriving in theaters November 17. We’re here for the YA literary revival!

In 2010, 20th Century Fox brought to life the first film in the Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief starring Logan Lerman. Fox would bring over the director of the early Harry Potter films, Chris Columbus, to helm the start of this new franchise. The Lightning Thief would go on to become a hit as it grossed $226.4 million worldwide with a production budget of $95 million. The sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, also became a modest hit and a third film, The Titan’s Curse, was set to be the next installment, but it never manifested.
Now, Disney brings you the teaser trailer for the new Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The news is revealed today, for it is Percy Jackson’s birthday. The show is to be an epic adaptation of the series of novels by author Rick Riordan. The novels are a best-selling book series from Disney Hyperion.
