Steven Spielberg takes pride in his 1993 war drama film Schindler’s List and admits it was the project that made him feel too exposed and there was no way he could walk around the controversy and the noise that would follow after its release.

“The Watchers” is the first film directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, the 24-year-old daughter of M. Night Shyamalan. Its title refers to a race of spindly ash-gray monsters who haunt an Irish woods, gathering at night around a concrete fortress where the film’s four characters have holed up in a state of semi-permanent refuge. The building has just one room, an entire wall of which is a two-way mirror through which the Watchers peer, all because..they like to watch.
At the same time, the title could almost be referring to anyone who will watch this movie with eyes on the inevitable question of how much of a chip off the old Shyamalan block it is. Is “The Watchers” a glossy/clever mystery horror thriller? Yes. Did Ishana Night Shyamalan, whose father is one of the producers, write the movie as well as direct it? Yes (though she adapted...

June 4, 2024 – Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley, beloved James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan and Star Wars universe luminary Mark Hamill form the ultimate vocal rogues’ gallery in Mofac Animation’s upcoming The King of Kings, an animated family film inspired by a little-known short story by Charles Dickens depicting the life and times of Jesus Christ.
Kingsley voices High Priest Caiaphas, who presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus. Hamill takes on the role of King Herod, who, according to the Gospel of Matthew, ordered the Massacre of the Innocents in an attempt to kill Jesus as an infant. And Brosnan gives animated life to Pontius Pilate, who ultimately ordered the crucifixion of Jesus. The triumvirate of villainous voices further enhances the A-list cast behind the faith-based animated film, which also includes Academy Award & Emmy Award winners Kenneth Branagh (Belfast) and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Golden Globe...

After waging war with House Atreides in Dune: Part Two, Dave Bautista trades his Harkonnen armor for something more discrete as he slips into the role of a hitman on borrowed time in The Killer’s Game trailer. The promo features the former wrestler-turned-Hollywood superstar as an assassin with a dry wit fighting for his life after receiving a false diagnosis from his doctor. Thinking he’s suffering from a terminal illness and only has three months to live, Bautista’s hitman, Joe Flood, must survive an onslaught of savvy killers looking to collect his head.

"Did he just hit me with a motorcycle? Now that's just disrespectful." Lionsgate has revealed the first trailer for an action thriller comedy called The Killer's Game, directed by the stuntman turned filmmaker J.J. Perry (he also made the vampire film Day Shift with Jamie Foxx a few years ago). This will be landing in theaters in September after the summer season wraps - not a good sign. A veteran assassin is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness with limited time left and authorizes a kill on himself. After ordering the kill, an army of former colleagues pounce and a new piece of information comes to light – he's not really going to die. Insanity ensues, of course, as usual when all the assassins come out of the woodwork. Dave Bautista stars as Joe Flood, known as "The Slugger", who gets caught up in this mess. "Will the Slugger have what it takes to outrun the competition?...

The trailer for The Killer’s Game sees Dave Bautista fighting for his life after he goes from being a hitman to a target.
The action-comedy follows a veteran assassin, Joseph Flood (Bautista), who authorizes a kill on himself after being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
“There’s only two ways out of the killer’s game, Joseph. You walk away clean or you go out on your back,” Ben Kingsley can be heard saying in the footage.
However, when Joseph learns that doctors made a mistake and he actually doesn’t have an illness, he tries to cancel the contract. But insanity ensues when it’s too late, and an army of assassin colleagues not only come after him but also his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella).
“I’m calling in every hitter in Europe, you hear me?” Pom Klementieff says to Bautista in the trailer, to which he responds, “Yeah well,...

Pierce Brosnan, Mark Hamill and Ben Kingsley are set to bring Jesus Christ’s adversaries to life in an animated feature inspired by a posthumously published story from Charles Dickens.
The three performers will portray villains as part of the star-studded voice cast for director Seong-ho “Jay” Jang’s The King of Kings. Hailing from South Korea-based animation house Mofac Animation, the film is loosely based on The Life of Our Lord, the Dickens short story that was published decades after the author’s death and focuses on the life and times of Christ.
Brosnan voices Pontius Pilate, the biblical figure who ordered Jesus’ crucifixion. Hamill will tackle the role of King Herod, who is described in the Bible as ordering the Massacre of the Innocents shortly after Jesus’ birth. Kingsley is taking on the part of High Priest Caiaphas, who presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus.

Not a single week passes without Netflix’s surprising updates of the streaming’s top 10 chart, and there’s a very unexpected newcomer that has somehow attracted enough attention to now be sitting at the sixth position on the US chart.
According to the most recent data provided by FlixPatrol, Antonio Banderas’ biggest flop Security has suddenly become one of the most-watched movies globally as the film now holds the seventh place in the global chart and the sixth place in the US top 10.
Ironically, Security now came very close to Banderas’ other movie, the animated hit flick Shrek, which is now holding the fifth spot in the American chart.
What Is Security About?
Also starring Gabriella Wright and Ben Kingsley, Security is an action-packed movie that follows ex-special services veteran Eddie Deacon, portrayed by Banderas, who, while being stranded and with no job, takes up a security guard position at a local mall.

Every month is an interesting one on Netflix, where you can see forgotten Robert Downey Jr. dramas topping the charts alongside beloved animated ogres enjoying a full streaming renaissance. But there's a certain genre of streaming movie that always seems to do well regardless of whether it's actually any good or not: the middling actioner. You know exactly what I'm talking about: Films that no one heard about when they released but seem perfectly primed to scratch that specific itch we've all had when endlessly scrolling through the mounds of media on these platforms and just want to zone out to something mildly entertaining.
Earlier in May, Scott Adkins' UK action thriller "One More Shot" climbed the Netflix charts, while the month prior the service breathed new life into a forgotten Aaron Eckhart actioner. Was anyone eagerly awaiting the arrival of either? Probably not. Did they do well on Netflix?...

With the release of ‘Echo,’ the MCU underwent significant changes. It became the first TV-ma-rated show in the MCU and the inaugural series under the ‘Marvel Spotlight’ banner, emphasizing character-driven stories that don’t require prior knowledge of previous projects.
During the recent Disney Upfronts presentation, it was revealed that Marvel Studios has segmented its development into several divisions: Marvel Animation, Marvel Television, and Marvel Spotlight. This new strategy aims to simplify the MCU for new fans, making it easier to understand and engage with the universe.
We have long known that more Marvel Spotlight shows are in the works, such as ‘Marvel Zombies,’ which will also be TV-ma rated. There has been speculation that ‘Wonder Man’ could be released under the same banner.
This was recently confirmed by Variety in an interview with Brad Winderbaum. ‘Wonder Man’ will indeed be part of Marvel Spotlight. Since the character has not previously appeared in the MCU,...

With the release of ‘Echo’ plenty of things changed in the MCU. It was the first TV-ma-rated show in the MCU, and the first to be released under the ‘Marvel Spotlight’ banner, meaning that it’s heavily character-oriented and that you don’t have to watch previous projects to understand the story.
Recently, during the Disney Upfronts presentation we saw that MCU, or rather Marvel Studios had separated its development into several segments: Marvel Animation, Marvel Television, and Marvel Spotlight which is also a part of the new strategy to make it easier for new fans to get a good sense regarding what the MCU is about.
Now we always knew that more Marvel Spotlight shows are on the way, primarily ‘Marvel Zombies’ which will likewise be TV-ma rated, and we speculated that ‘Wonder Man’ could also be released under the same banner.
Variety confirmed this fact in a recent interview with Brad Winderbaum.

With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Daniel Destin Cretton no longer attached to Avengers 5, he's been able to focus on Disney+'s upcoming Wonder Man series.
While the show has never been "officially" announced by Marvel Studios, we have a new update from Variety. In a piece addressing the decision to bring back the "Marvel Television" label to better differentiate big and small screen stories, the trade confirms that Wonder Man will fall under the "Marvel Spotlight" banner Echo debuted with in January.
That's meant for one-off, character-driven TV shows which can serve as standalone projects with fewer connections to the wider MCU. However, with Echo, that decision seems to have been made relatively last-minute seeing as it set the stage for Daredevil: Born Again.

Lionsgate announced release dates for a few movies today, including Flight Risk, Mel Gibson’s first time in the director’s chair since Hacksaw Ridge. The action thriller, which stars Mark Wahlberg, will be released on October 18th.
Directed by Mel Gibson and written by Jared Rosenberg, Flight Risk finds Wahlberg playing a pilot transporting an Air Marshall (Michelle Dockery) accompanying a fugitive (Topher Grace) to trial. As they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem.”
Our own Chris Bumbray was able to see a trailer for Flight Risk at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last month and he teased that Wahlberg is playing “Way against type” in the movie. “He even shaved his head to look like he has a bald pate,” Bumbray wrote. “Looks like a really tight kickass thriller, and Gibson Really makes Walhberg look crazy in this.

Good news for exhibition as Lionsgate is delivering two big releases this fall: The Dave Bautista action pic The Killer’s Game on Sept. 13 and the Mel Gibson directed Mark Wahlberg movie Flight Risk for Oct. 18. Again, we can’t be without film product in a marketplace that’s starving for volume.
Meanwhile the Gerard Butler sequel Den of Thieves: Pantera will hit cinemas on Jan. 10, 2025; that title arriving to Lionsgate through its eOne acquistion.
The JJ Perry directed The Killer’s Game, based on the book by Jay R. Bonansinga and adapted by Rand Ravich and James Coyne, follows a top hitman, Joe Flood (Bautista) who is diagnosed with a terminal illness. He opts to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and...

What defines a Ryan Reynolds performance? Is it his wry comedic timing? The almost illegal amount of charisma he projects on screen? The three-piece suits? More than likely, it’s a combination of all of the above, a potent witch’s brew of Hollywood fairy dust that makes this Canadian actor and producer one of our most compelling movie stars. Whether he’s gushing about the genius of Betty White in a documentary tribute to her life, trading bodies with Ben Kingsley in Self/Less or leading a pack of neon-clad vigilantes in 6 Underground, what defines his brand of star power is that you want to see how he tackles every role.
Red Notice is no exception. As international art thief Nolan Booth, Reynolds is at it again, this time alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, arguably the only other two actors on the planet who are as compulsively watchable as he is.

Netflix is making it all pretty much complicated for Knives Out 3 the production of which is set to start later this year.
Directed by Ryan Johnson once again, the third installment starring Daniel Craig as quirky yet brilliant detective Benoit Blanc will hit the streaming service just like its predecessor, Glass Onion, in 2025 earliest.
Though so far the mystery trilogy had no competitors of the same league letting itself thrive amid everyone’s wild enthusiasm, things may turn out to be very different due to Netflix’s recently announced new movie.
Having a wholly changed facade, the upcoming murder mystery film The Thursday Murder Club still shares a lot with Knives Out, even its possible release time. The movie based on Richard Osman’s novel of the same name will follow a group of elderly people lucky enough to spend the rest of their life in a sumptuous retirement village.

Back in 2020, it was announced that Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again director Ol Parker would be following that film up by taking the helm of The Thursday Murder Club, an adaptation of the debut novel by Richard Osman (creator and co-presenter of the BBC quiz show Pointless), for Amblin. Given that Parker’s involvement was announced just days before the pandemic lockdowns, it’s not surprising to hear that iteration of the project didn’t hold together… but The Thursday Murder Club is still moving forward. Home Alone and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is now attached to direct the film, and Variety reports that Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye), Helen Mirren (The Queen), and Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3) are being eyed for three of the four the lead roles!

Chris Columbus is headed back into the director’s chair for Thursday Murder Club, Amblin’s upcoming feature film adaptation of the same-titled novel written by Richard Osman. Variety first reported the news this morning.

Variety details, “The book, released in 2020, tells the story of four septuagenarian friends who live in a retirement community and solve cold cases for fun. When a shady property developer is found dead, the four find themselves in the middle of their first live crime.”
Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley are “being eyed” to lead the cast!
Richard Osman’s 2020 novel was such a hit that it launched a franchise. Follow-up The Man Who Died Twice followed in 2021, with The Bullet That Missed coming...
